Just some speculation ...
... but do you think LA will retire if say he crashes or becomes ill and can not finish the tour? My wife and I were talking about it last night and I can not see how he could allow himself to go out that way. Meaning not even finishing the race.
When he does retire I would also think he will always have in the back of his mind ;
1 He wins - maybe I could have won one more time hmmmm
2 Looses - I do not want to go out with people thinking I stayed way to long and have passed my prime (but if this was the case he should not even consider coming back because history shows that these athletes get owned if they do return. There are a very few exceptions)
3 DNF - I need to atleast finish before I can retire. In this case we could see him one more time. Again this goes with my main reason for this post.

I think he'll retire no matter what
to me, much of his legacy will be the fact that his tours won were consecutive
