Go Nairo!

Glad to see the old guy still has it in him. Even liked that he dropped Alaphilippe on the climb. I need to make time to see some youtube commentary on the Tour de la Provence.

Hope he doesn't burn up all his energy by the time the bigger tours come along.

What won him the overall wasn't that move at the end. It was the hard work and smart riding to ride a very serviceable opening prologue TT then spend the next days solidly in the lead group and make every split when Quick Step and others were using cross winds and echelons to shed the undesirables (climbers) just so guys like Quintana would be minutes back.

I watched him the whole race and saw a seasoned pro quietly go about the work of riding with the big boys (ie the early season classics riders who are for the most part big, strong diesels and far bigger and heavier than Quintana; just what you want in the cross winds and what the team of Quick-Step is built around). Roll across the finish in say 18th place. Who cares? But he got that magic time, the letters "st", same time as the leaders. Every day. The last stage was the icing on the cake.

Well, his workmanlike craft throughout the week put him in place to win, but what won him the race was on that climb when he attacked and put a minute into Alaphillipe, who couldn't hold his wheel. Alaphillipe came in second, 27 seconds back. That move WAS what won him the race.
