Tour de France 2006 route?
 

When do they announce the next year's tour route? and where online can you find it when they do?

I thought they announce around October or November

Actually, it'll be announced in October this year... We already know it'll start in Strasbourg... Also, there are some rumors in Belgian press about inclusion of Cauberg, which has been a finish for the Amstel Gold race in the past couple of years... ;)

Cauberg is a tough, tough climb. Evil false flat for about 1000m at the top.

Um ... maybe that is the Vuelta? Age does sometimes have its disadvantages. :(

Presentation is October 27.

Prologue in Strasbourg. First stage start and end in Strasbourg. Second stage start in Strasbourg.

Government people and papers in the Benelux are indicating that much, if not all, of the first week's stages following the first will be there.

no TTT... i don't like the idea of a TTT in an event like this anyway. with a 52 km and a 56 km individual TTs it looks good for Ullrich... Basso going to have a hard time holding him off... looks bad for the likes of a Cunego (if he get his health under control) or a Valverde

Ahhh. The TTT was one if-if not my favorite event.. I think it's ridiculous to take it out. I really appreciate the team aspect of the tour, and I'm really sad to see it go. It was also great coverage for the lesser famous teams..

hey don't get me wrong i love watching the TTT it's an amazing spectacle to whatch. I just don't think it's fair... to me it basically allows the bigger budget teams to buy minutes and seconds. in a RR a strong team is a great asset, but a talented rider with a lesser team still has a chance to use tactics to pull out a victory... in a TTT no tactics are involved... if you have the budget to buy the HP you are going to gain minutes... i guess you could get your girlfriend to throw thumb tacks down as Disco, CSC and TMobile roll past but I think that's frowned upon :)

Amusing snipes at Lance during the presentation. Made every effort to make sure there were little or no references to him in the tributes.

Then they went out of their way to take stabs at him during their presentations.

The saying goes "Be careful what you ask for" will make itself evident when television viewship declines dramatically as ASO triumphantly welcomes in their "Next Chapter"

ASO is hilarious. Every year they do something even dumber and this year at the presentation was priceless.

Bruyneel was great talking about how the US had four of the top ten Pro Tour riders and France having four in the top 100. Heck, IMO Moreau is their best rider and he was 79th...their best was Moncoutie at 30th...so his point was that they are simply not good enough. But then the focus is on AG2R and Cofidis. Apparently, many other people were put out by this.

But, as has been the case the last few years, they try to figure out some trick and good riders figure out how to overcome them. Bad ones abandon.

They were right to drop the TTT...since they decided to "socialize" the results by mitigating the time advantages (because the "big money teams have too much of an advantage") it had become comical and stupid.
