2023 giro d'italia: fantasyland (spoilers)!
hay there, fellow ne'er do wells, it's that time for the first gt of the year. bring out yer nine.
this is the ill-advised thread for all things fantasy game related to the giro. please keep the fantasy comments out of the nearby
2023 giro: straight-no fantasy chaser thread lest you confirm suspected bf pariah status.
https://www.velogames.com
league: bike forums
league code: 877037911 (should work...let me know if it doesn't)
the entry deadline is 13:45 cest/07:45 est) on saturday, may 6th 2023.
if you've been remiss enuff to enter into one of our little donnybrooks in the past, pretty sure you get auto-abducted into the league...the gift that keeps on giving.

^Good looking team, Uran was looking very good at Basque country. The stage 20 ITT could really suit Uran like his win in tour de suisse 2021.
There's nine sprint stages though, think I'll be wanting to add some form of sprinter like a groves or Cort. I had forgot Consonni had nabbed a stage in the Saudi tour this year, Couple top fives in T-A. I'm also thinking Lorenzo Rota is in great form. Tratnik looking super good to, I really wonder if he'll be put on a leash though.

Added Evenepoel but had to drop Batistella which is a real shame. I think he'll sneak a really good GC result...
I wonder if Gaviria might cleanup here?

I gave up Ganna I feel that was a big mistake. How many points will he accrue after winning the first pink jersey? I let G go too in place of the Portuguese rider that no one supports. Except me, I believe.

giro is here!!! can't wait for the daily trash talking, rare kudos and infrequent admissions of regret. quite possibly, the best race of the entire year. enjoy the spectacle.

forgot all about that "stage hunter" game within the game thingy. it's a little early to start changing things up but apparently it's available now. may come in handy after the sketchiness/nerves of the first week.

Lol Ow-Do with big celebrations for Paret-Pientre. Hoping Albanese comes thru. Keka been reading my mind, I need Zoccarato or petilli to do something special. I know Zoccarato can do something!

This thing is a marathon not a sprint. At least that's what I keep telling the other guys in the laughing bunch in the good ship BF.
I'm cycling through various "what was I thinking?" moments in team selection, but the only real existential one is Carthy. To be fair, I went in eyes open thinking that he may be good when it is steep late in the race, and not expecting much from him early. His 2 pts to date have lived up to part of that. Will the rest come along? TBD. AKA TBD2me if not.

I'm happy to see my 4 pointers in Barta, Zoccarato, and Petilli show themselves. I keep wondering if maybe I shouldn't have gone with the Big Two for GC. Lot of points that stopped me from picking a bigger sprinter. Albanese has been great but Groves at 8 is a great deal. Looking through now I'm really noticing that sprinter deficit. Really hope I get lucky with a Kamna/Rubio top ten.
I guess I dodged a bullet with Ganna, what a shame. I would've really liked to have Geraint still. I threw Kämna in after that wonderful appearance in T-A(?) but it looks like Bora is serious for GC, so hopefully he'll eventually end up with a top ten. They look to be keeping him close on time for an attacking option, probably won't see a stage win or him out front. Same for Rubio, head down and quiet till week three.
EF have been quiet until today, Healy is out there. GCNs on the ground reporter mentioned Magnus Cort was not happy about missing the break yesterday. Don't give up on Hugh yet, let's see how he does on the harder stuff. A few Uran picks as well, I have him as a potential stage 20 ITT winner.

So looks like the real Giro has finally started, or are they just messing with us?

What a load of doody this event has been. I'll be back in July.
Note to the UCI. The WHO and numerous governments and other international agencies have adjusted their COVID protocols. Perhaps you should consider doing the same.

I wonder if Remco will now ride the TdF? Except I doubt Quickstep could bring a reasonable support team, as they'll be focused on the sprints.
