2024 tour de france fantasyland!! spoilers duh!!

well well well...looky at what just landed on the plate. it's time yet again for that little summer spin around france.

https://www.velogames.com
league name: bike forums
league code: 230144811

rules and scoring for the classic (main contest) game:

https://www.velogames.com/velogame/2024/rules.php
https://www.velogames.com/velogame/2024/scores.php
read 'em!

there is a new "replacements" game connected to the main contest (different than the stage hunter game). feel free to play it if you like but, for the purposes of this bike forums league, we will not be recognizing it this go round. perhaps next summer.

if you've played any of the fantasy games here semi-recently, you'll likely be auto-enrolled/drafted. could be a blessing or a curse; up to you as to how you interpret it.

and yes! there is the stage hunter game running simultaneously yet again! this time, however, it closely matches the "superclasico" game with the ability to make up to a maximum of three changes every stage. use 'em or lose 'em since the changes don't accumulate if you don't make a change for a nothing (in your worldview) stage.

rules for the stage hunter game: https://www.velogames.com/sixes-stag...2024/rules.php
read 'em!

as always for the gt's, deadline for entry/recognition into the bike forums league (and those otherworldly no-prizes) is before the start of stage four for both games.

deadline for both games is 12:30 cest (central european summer time) on saturday, june 29th, 2024. that is 11:30 in the uk and 06:30 on united states east coast.

welcome back to old friends and a hearty s'up to new ones to be. bon chance all!

desired team-without points considerations but with climber, sprinter, unclassed and all rounder considerations-graded out at 112 points.
happy with current configuration and now fingers crossed hoping no one (else) bows out before the start.

Starting to worry about the cost of Matteo since he has been selected for the US Olympic team.

Yeah...I didn't even think about the mid-tour drop outs wanting to save form for the Olympics. I have no idea how many riders are on their national teams and competing in the Olympics.

I am venturing into this with a Pog-free team. Yet another bold decision that is difficult to support.

Best to all of our combatants!

Major changes to my team at the 11th hour and 59th minute. I guess the payote does pack a punch.

missed the tadej “news” but seems like there are the two camps: the larger one with poga and the smaller, whatthehellareyouthinking comic sans one. surprised to discover as many udou participants as there are. will be scintillating as this year’s version of “as the disc brakes slice and dice” unfolds…

Just like USAZorro planned it! Van Den Broeck picked on 0.3% of teams. Go play the MegaBucks NOW!!!

I haven't browsed the rosters for it but wonder how many trying to make hay with the sun shining on GC B listers are regretting the dead weight of Lutsenko and Gaudu. Somehow I missed them. Those pursuing the Tadej & Jasper strategy didnt have much budget left for such indulgences.

Isn't that a fantasy?

I'll go with Maxim Van Gils to rub in the non-pick one more time.

Campanaerts is pulling in the peloton to shatter the dreams of the break and rain glory on my Van Gils pick.

I was stunned looking back in the PCS feed to a ton of winners coming from the early break last year. I think it was 8.

TBD for stage 2 2024

Well done Vaquelin & Arkea.

Who is this tomek78 punk getting in the way of my worst to first run? 🤣🤡

Carapaz et al drags USAZorro even further forward. 🍿 Vive le tour.

Stage 3 hallucination: heart says Cav, head says Phillipsen, let's go with De Lie on the back of his tri-color winning watt bomb.

P.S. De Lie in yellow. P.P.S. I meant Van Gils in my Lotto Destiny haze but forgot about the 21 sec gap to the fab four. Never mind.

USAZorro inside the top 100 after stage 3. A giant walks amongst us. For now. Bennett is a big load to haul all the way to Nice.

That pesky tomek78 is still hogging my red lantern. Turn the pedals or get in the damn broom wagon so I can make my run to the top! Don't just stand there.

18 more stages. I did save a copy of the screenshot though, because luck like this is rather uncommon.

Stray bad thought. Should we have a thread that predicts which Visma rider will hit the deck next? They're on quite a roll.

Stage 1 Kelderman
Stage 2 Van Aert & Jorgenson
Stage 3 Laporte
Stage 4 ???

Anyone we pick is likely to stay up. Except G and Primoz.

We should do the lads a solid and forebode the heck out of them.

FB fed me the Omi Opi clip today. Not a happy moment.

Primoz can reset the shoulder on the fly so I'm good there. I've done my part not picking Girmay-Carapaz-Bardet. Well done Zorro!!! 84th!

Laurence is my sneaky hopeful.

Now it is time for Cort and Bettiol to step up and be counted. And for Jasper to stop being naughty so he can hang on to the points he almost earns.

Once they've done that, I will be completely liberated to move on to second guessing my ridiculous Tadej-free approach to this Tour.

So no regrets here, yet, for now. How about you?

Damn I should've picked Biniam. Look at him hold his own in against the pure sprinters. Let alone when it gets hilly. I thought Mads would've done better.

thinking bettiol, cort, healy and mvdp will go hard for the stage 8 win. seems like just the kind of bumpy profile that would appeal to them. picking mvdp (again) to win stage 8
but very little surprises me these days.
