Hard to believe. The TDF budget isn't big enough to cover the friggin hotel bill they'll rack up in two nights in London. And you'll never MEET Euro. Are you nuts? The guy is so paranoid he doesn't want to reveal what NATION he's from. Get serious.

Those pros are gonna have to pedal fast to get across the Channel.

Actually, a London Prologue TT would be pretty sweet...Kensington Palace to the Tower of London, via Trafalgar Square.

I wonder: Are the French now trying to piss themselves off?

Born in Nottingham, England in 1974. Live in Wimbledon, South West London.

Cheers.

What about you patentcad? I notice you have no location under your name. Come on, spill the beans.

Regarding the grand depart - I'm assuming that they will close the route the day before, so hopefully there will be other events on the circuit which I will be able to take part in.

If they were going to suddenly get helpful, what a great way to start.

Odd you should say that, because they were due to annouce this last summer, but they changed their mind after we won the Olympics from them.

Blimey, you're just down the road from me!!! Where do you ride? I go to richmond park for quick blasts, but quite frankly find doing the umpteen laps a little mind numbing, still its good to try and keep up with the racers and triatholon dudes who train there. I ride in Surrey round Box Hill and Dorking wherever possible, its my spiritual home as I've been lucky enough to work in Leatherhead in the past and many happy memories of sun drenched lunchtime rides in the summer.

Dead chuffed about the TdF news. Bring on 2007!!!

Mostly Surrey Hills - Richmond Park is a means to an end for me - too much of a grind to enjoy.

I notice patentcad has forgetten to give us his personal details. I'd hate to think he's a hypocrite.

I realize the Tour wants to be as big as it can, but why is the Tour de FRANCE always spending time in other countries?

I can understand crossing into an adjacent country if the roads connect with France, but spending DAYS in the other country kind of defeats the whole FRANCE part of the race name, no?

The Giro d'Italia is doing a few days in Belgium in 2006. Huh?? There is probably a good reason for it, but doesn't Belgium have enough races throughout the season?

There is probably $$$ behind these decisions (most definitely for taking the Tour to London), but come on now.

What's next? The Prologue of the Tour de Georgia will be in Cincinnati? The Tour of California to spend two stages in Hawai'i?

I was born in Nottingham too, in 1970. Grew up there until going to University "up north". Now stuck in the south east here in Oxford. Its expensive, but the riding is pretty good. 3 cheers for the old town!

A stage passing through the chunnel would be quite a novelty. Maybe in about 15 more years.

Yes, there is: https://www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/sit...ffofnottingham

So there !

Unfortunately though, there is no longer a "proper" Raleigh Bicycle factory

If you are going to get ready for the Marmotte in July, training for the mountains should be pretty hard around London. Are you coming down to France to train anytime?

The prologue should be really nice in London. I wonder which major landmarks will be along the circuit. I am looking forward to it!
