THIS IS A TOUR STAGE THREAD - POSSIBLE SPOILERS TO FOLLOW!

40 Cent 07-19-08 08:40 AM

Freire! Zabel 3rd -- would have loved to see him get it for old time's sake.

Scummer 07-19-08 08:43 AM

Great sprint finish!

BananaTugger 07-19-08 08:45 AM

Cavendish: "Screw this climb." >.<

2wheeled 07-19-08 08:50 AM

Freire looked like he was buried in the bunch but it opened up for him at the perfect time. Zabel consistant again but no cigar.

I will not be surprised to see Cavendish pack his bags tonight.

Man if Zabel didnt have 12 stage wins in the Tour i would feel bad for the guy. He seems to be a consistant top 5 this year (sprint stages of course) but just cant seem to find his way to 1st.

agreed.

What a great tour he has had.

Ill be awaiting his return next year to see if he can wear green in Paris.

I thought Zabel had it, the line just couldn't come soon enough for him! Must be those tired old legs.

C_Heath 07-19-08 11:55 AM

Zabel got ass handed to him.I was pullin hard for the old man!

Columbiafan 07-19-08 01:05 PM

i am the only one getting tired of french riders always trying and failing. I always have bets with my friends as to when they will be caught up and so far ive made 30 buck :)

It was pretty cool to see Evans bridge across to Schleck's little attack at the top of the last hill. But where was the rest of the Lotto team? Popovych blew up half way up the hill. CSC is gonna be relentless tomorrow. Columbiafan - it wouldnt be a proper TDF stage without Voeckler and Chavanel firing off the front. What about the part where they were in the Columbia car and Rolf Aldag was telling Cavendish to use the big chain ring in the final climb because it was not too hard. He was like...screw you guys. I think if I would have tried to do that hill in the big chain ring going all out like those guys, my aorta would tear right off my left ventricle.

That was amazing! How fast do you think they were averaging during that last sprint? I am really enjoing this Tour!

Me too! Then again, I've always found something to get excited about ever since following my first one in 1975. I can't wait for the Alps!!

Much more interesting than a flatter stage with the whole peloton intact and a bunch sprint, IMO. That last 25 km had plenty of attacks and strategy shifts, although for awhile there, it looked like Columbia was still going to control the finish.

Just catching up on this stage WOW!

I asked the same thing last night, Is it possible for ~30mph? Whatever it was that was an awesome sprint.

Average speed for the stage was a little over 46KM/hour, which is booting since it was almost entirely uphill.

The last KM went by at 55-60KM/hour, and the final 200 metres would have flashed by in a few seconds at over 65KM/hour.

Part of me wanted to say 40mph but 30mph sounded crazy enough to me!
