Maybe he left to avoid drug testing. He won 4 stages,,,,,,,,,therefore, using the logic of some of the other idiots, he must be doping. No way he beats everyone that easily**********? Same evidence used to convict several others.

Ahhhh... somebody read my mind... I came to the same conclusion. Someone felt THE HEAT.

roadgator 07-21-08 09:18 PM

This is not so unprecedented. Cipolinni, Petachi, and other big-time sprinters have all bolted from the tour after sacking a few stages and then smelling the mountains. Hell, Cipo never actually finished the tour.

Did he even see a true moutain stage?

He did in the Giro.

But just look at me here. Posting in one of the most ludicrous threads in the forum.

He and some others might be withdrawing because they are going to the Olympics and need to rest up. If they're not going to win and they are needed on their national team, it makes sense to withdraw now.

No way. The stage winners always get tested. In America at least. Anyone here know the protocols at the TdF?

Bingo!

Stage winners and the Yellow Jersey holder always get tested. In addition to that, there are "random" tests - the number of which are up quite a bit from previous years.

No, I think not. The Tour is the only race that matters. In fact, I didn't even know the Olympics held cycling events.

Brian, please close this thread.

Bingo back atcha - Cavendish is a reigning world champion in the Madison, you're underestimating the importance of the Olympics to him

So far Cavs had 70 + days of racing this year, excluding the track worlds and world cups. He goes into the Olympics as a favorite for the Madison where he is current World Champion, he started the season with a number of goals and Olympic gold was high on the list, would make sense if he went in the best possible condition. :)

Absolutely. His goals and priorities seem quite sensible and realistic to me. Look for the lad to try to hang on through the tour - contending for Green next year.

James Madison or the Wisconsin capital? You don't really expect me to believe there are races of any importance outside the Tour, do you? They'd be shown live on Versus.

You're quite correct of course.

The tour, Badass cage fighting (or whatever it's called) and bull riding -- right there in a nutshell you have the full gamut of sports to satisfy the most diverse and demanding tastes. Everything else is just so much spinach.

Vs spring to broadcast the Olympics? :roflmao2:

Besides, there is no guarantee of spectacular crashes. :twitchy:

Vanthel 07-22-08 04:23 AM

We'd know if he was doping ages ago, GB Team members get tested a lot with both scheduled tests and suprise tests along the lines of a phonecall "we are on our way to your house, we'll be there in 20 seconds"

cyclezealot 07-22-08 04:41 AM

In a bike race are you not supposed to pace yourself at the beginning of the race. / Did he shoot in wad showing off in the early stages.? / I ask in regards to the Tour De France. Are they asking more than humans are capable of delivering. The solution either more pasta or EPO.
