Really? I'd say he's had a great tour given his expectations. He certainly was never a GC contender, but he grabbed yellow for 4 days. VERY nicely done, IMHO. :thumb:

... Brad

What do you think you're going to see in the Olympics? He'll be riding the Madison, I believe, which contains a fair amount of sprinting.

dsilver668 07-24-08 04:19 PM

Yeah but not the same as those mad dashes with 150+ riders going one direction. IT is different than a grand tour for sure. I am sure Mark will do well. He has great speed and for the short races, I fully expect him to crush the girlyman competition.

If you go to the NBC site (for you in the U.S.), you can do a search by sport (Cycling) across all the days of broadcasts.

On Saturday the 9th, during daytime coverage (9 - 5 CDT), they say "USA vs. Japan in women's volleyball. Also: American teams in beach volleyball, the men's cycling road race and the women's individual sabre final in fencing." That's 8 hours of coverage and who knows how much time will be devoted to the road race. Crank up the DVR!

On Sunday, it's the Women's road race.

They do show that there will be coverage for many of the cycling events, including The Madison, although it appears that it will be only Medal Round coverage but I'm guessing they'll take you through the highlights that led to that round.

It isn't the same, but track cycling is enjoyable in it's own way. And if you like speed and power, you'll enjoy watching Theo Bos and Ryan Bayley.

Yup..
Some of those guys pump out some serious wattage...
:D

E-mailing with some of the Team Columbia staff, they are very happy with what they have done so far in the tour.

I love the fact that they and Garmin are doing well and hope it continues. But why on earth did they go into jerseys that make them look like Astana.

acorn_user 07-25-08 08:53 AM

He's got to get back for the Olympics. For Queen and Country guys! The British Cycling programme exists to win medals in track cycling, and he is a prominent product of that system.

I just a Team Columbia hat yesterday. I think they are doing a great job and so is Garmin Chipotle.

I didn't like the Columbia jerseys at first but as I see them more I am liking them.

I like the black shorts Cloumbia is wearing. Grown men should not wear baby blue cycling shorts. Or red shorts...Or yellow shorts.

I got a baseball hat yesterday and I plan on getting the shorts when I can. I will have access to them in a week or so I think.

dsilver668 07-25-08 01:18 PM

Grown men wearing baby blue anything is scarry... Although the pink jersey's for Italia are kinda sexy. :D

The team standings are quite surprising though, with AG2R just 09' 27" behind CSC:

The Madison looks like a cool event to watch, I'm looking forward to the Olympic cycling events.
