“Hey pistolero, there is no ‘I’ in ‘team’. What did I say in March? Lots to learn. Restated”

This shows why Lance is NOT any sort of cycling champion... He's really just become a marketing TOOL ...

Sportsman like or not, I'm unsure of. However, given the war of words and intentions that started long before Vino's announcement, back when the sponsors were withholding funds, you are correct that none of us were surprised by Lance and JB's announcement that there would be a new team for 2010. That announcement coming during the tour was of course a business decission. The fact that it coincided with Alberto taking the yellow, was perhaps a coincidence(they announced the upcoming news days in advance), perhaps not, as they did say that it would take place on a day following a stage that was sure to have serious effects on the GC.

You're right, I don't see it (the announcement) or it's timing as a big deal. It was a business decision, the ramifications of which were pretty obvious. The advantages outweighed the negatives for JB, LA, their Sponsors and those riders that will be making the move. End of story as far as I'm concerned.

He said he's racing to promote his charity, and some think as a springboard to politics. Neither will be helped by him losing his temper and getting into a flame war. We can get away with it because we're anonymous jerks, but he's a public figure. He needs to be more careful.

Oh come on! It is the perfect practice for politics. Political forums make this look like a Disney flick.

Nothing happened to it. Even people who don't particularily like Lance are quick to acknowledge his achievements. Eg: “He is a great rider and has completed a great race but it is another thing on a personal level, where I have never had great admiration for him and I never will." -A Contador.

You see? Respect for his accomplishments.

Let me see if I get the quotes after the tour right.

Lance "That's the great thing about the tour. The best rider always wins."

Contador "I will never have respect for Lance"

Lance "Contador can kiss me"

Is that about right?

I see your point but I understand it differently. To me respect is different from acknowledgment. You show respect by acknowledging someone's accomplishments and not mentioning their flaws. Lance may be a jerk for all I know; but, AC was immature and uncouth to publicly say he had no respect for Lance on a personal level.

In that regard he was actually more restrained than Lance himself, who has said rude and demeaning things about other riders on numerous occasions.

Weight of victory has much to do with the TTT results. The team is VERY important when you throw that stage in.

I disagree. After going back and watching some of his old tours, Floyd was a beast. And he *did* win Le Tour.

I'm being totally serious here. What more could they have done for him? Push him up the hills? Ego massage?

Happy ending?

He has yet to prove it.

How about calling him team leader until LA proved otherwise? Kind of like CVV and BW.

Finish the TdF in first place in a situation where being in the hotel with your team was harder than the climbs, then tell us where you would have left it at.

I wonder what the folks at Radioshack think of all of this. Eventually, the press from outside of the US and the Twitter reponses will hit the mainstream news. Or do they even care?

Not unless he tests positive they won't. The US is afraid to criticize Lance. It's bad for marketing (and lawsuits).

Apparently, if you think it's so important.

As Johan said, "Everyone asks who is the leader of this team. I am the leader of this team."

Which calls up a question. Just what is it that Alberto wanted?

I vote Happy ending.

Don't bother. I gave him the chance to show he is capable of rational thought and he balked. He wouldn't even admit that calling your own teammate "immature" is a put down.
