My man Thor makes it two!
IMHO Thor's a step above your average sprinter. He's got good top end speed but has the capability to hammer it pretty hard up hill. The Criterium International had an uphill finish where Thor attacked and almost won the stage. He reminds me of a faster, strongger Bettini.

Bettini keeps trying...
Looked like he had the tactics yesturday but not the legs.
I was thinking that everyone would be too chicken to try to chase Kim Kirchen down at the end, worried that they would lead someone out. Hushovd went for it, and just made an incredible display of power. Bravo to him

Hmmmm, Pereiro, Brochard, Etxebarria, all all-rounders in the top 12. O'Grady must have been a little peeved again at the over crowding of the pure thoroughbred sprinters with these quarter horses. And I doubt McEwen has sent flowers to Hasslebacher in the hospital.
Hushovd has shown a most consistent development over the last 4 yrs. He's definitely running with the big dogs now.
And I'm sticking with my man Mirko even if he does look like he's competing for the Lanterne Rouge to match his Saeco red.

Thought it was fairly normal actually... but that dogowner needs shot.
Similar thing nearly happened to me today on a bike path - passed a woman with a dog, said Hi, slowed down, until I was passed her, accelerated away and her OTHER dog came bounding out of the bushes!
Goddam dog went across my path and froze in front of my wheel. I WOULD HAVE hit it, but for it jumping back 6 feet as I nearly split it in two.
Need to upgrade my brakes....
p.s. Thanks for the warning love.

All these sprinters are getting a little testy right now it seems with the crashing and all. Scott Sunderland was talking about the "enervating" he got from O'Grady for trying to contest the sprint yesterday.
I think anybody who can get to the front should be trying to contest the sprint.
McEwen was put off with Hasselbacher's riding last year too. Perhaps his criticism this year is a carryover from last year to an extent, but I also think that there is a bit too much smoke here with Rene(2 years in a row now he leaves from a stage on a stretcher) for it all to be just Robbie shooting his mouth off, although Robbie does that almost as well as he sprints.
Lots of love for Gerolsteiner here.

Did you see the video, Don? The video that some fan taped from a balcony near the finish? As far as I (Phil and Paul also) could see, Hasselbacher had nothing to do with it. Perhaps he was knocked sensless and is relying on media reports to reconstruct what happened?
