Contador ducks doping Questions: And why won't he reveal V02 Max?

Why is he hiding his v02 max. I'm thinking perhaps he dopes.

No it was not. This is a valid conversation. Doping is still a problem in the pro road peleton and other sports and games.
One of the major problems is that the science of doping and masking the doping seems to be ahead of the testing technology of WADA.

Well it's never been discussed why he's hiding his V02 max. 7 weeks aint that long ago...and considering it occurred during the 2009 tour, it certainly is relevant. Here is a thought...how about UCI forcing V02 max tests.

I think most people who compete would only give out detailed information if they are required to do so, otherwise they might be passing along information that might potentially assist an opponent in their preparation to defeat them.
If everyone was required to do it thats one thing but it isn't required so why help out the other guy by volunteering the info?

That's just too cynical a view in my book. I think doping is on the decline, and I'm willing to give riders the benefit of the doubt now. Unless someone has just way too strong a performance to accept otherwise (like Ricco in last years' Tour).

I think what he was actually ignoring was the accusation brought forth by Lemond. I would have refused to give currency to Lemond's ******** accusations as well.

In Greg's bizarre world, we might just as well bring the guys to the start line of a Grand Tour, compare the VO2 maxes, and declared the entrant with the highest value the winner right then and there. Saves all the spectacle, suspense and expense of holding the race.

Perhaps it is becaseu if he gives out his VO2 max Armstrong will sue for trademark infringement!
OK, not really, but it is a losing question for him ot answer. If it is better than Armstrongs people will say he is doping, just like the start of the thread. If it is lower then (perhaps the same?) people will ask how he can beat Armstrong with a lower VO2 max. He must be doping!

a) a well rested VO2Max
b) VO2Max tested after 10 stages of TDF
c) VO2Max prior to the Verbier climb
What exactly do you think that would tell you?
There is considerable psychology involved in cycling and I can't imagine a rider wanting to reveal his performance metrics and potential weaknesses. Expecting them to make that data public is absurd and is not done in any other competitive sport. That's why they race.

Regardless of whether AC is doping (I've seen no credible report pointing to that) or not, his VO2 max would put my best ever VO2 max to shame.
And for that, I hate him!!!

Why give credence to such unscientific speculation? I'm not convinced that anyone has done an actual study that shows definitively what exactly the correlation between VO2Max and watts (or even VAM) is for clean riders and doping riders. Until a bunch of studies are done AND they prove there really is a correlation (which they may not) this is all just a waste of time.

Exactly, and for pretty much the same reason Lance did. You do the tests, you jump through every hoop they set up for you, and still every time you turn around some idiot thinks you must be doping anyway because you ride fast. Lance never wasted his time on the muck-peddlars of the sport, and Contador should be smart enough to do the same.

Lemond is scared to death that he's been forgotten. The only way he can get in the news is to accuse someone else of doping.
