I noticed Cherly is there at the beginning of many stages, right when I imagine he is trying to warm up and get focused, and probably a bit nervous. I think she would be a distraction if I were in his position. I'd probably be all bi*chy, then she'd get bi*chy back at me. At least that's the way ithings go with me and my girlfriend.

(Incidentally, I don't see the big deal with Cheryl. Everyone says, "oh, she's so hot..." but I don't think she is spectacularly good looking -- especially in the ranks of millionaire pro athletes.)

Now, she is certainly not the classic beauty of some of the other girls at the TDF...

But being over 40, she ain't bad!

That seems so disrespectful of his ex-wife and kids. Can you imagine having to answer a childs question: "Mommy, what is Daddy doing to that other girl on TV?". There are a lot of things about LA not to like, but he sure can ride a bike.

You're right, I forgot to mention my observation that he seems to sure take his liberties with the podium girls! The other podium standers will give a very sterile, non-contact kiss about 6 inches from their cheeks. Lance plants it right on their cheeks, and they get all giddy looking. I wonder if the podium girls put out for top TDF riders...

Agreed about LA, I think he has amazing talent on the bike off the bike I don't like the guy. And man, I'd hate to have anyone I know bar trainers etc about me as I got ready to go.

He's divorced from Kristen, get over it.
I'm sure given his fastidiousness about warm ups
preparation etc. if it bothered him Cheryl would not be
there.
Podium girls get thrown off the tour for fraternization
with the riders, ask Hincapies fiance.
(btw, she's pregnant and they're not married, where's the
indignation about that? oh yeah I forgot, he's not lance).

Oh, c'mon, Lotek. Hincampie and Armstrong are not the same situation. And is Hincampie dropping his pregnant girlfriend for some fameous singer? Is he playing kissy kissy behind the trailer while the camera rolls, cuts away to give results of another rider, cuts back to him only to see they're still playing kissy kissy with little regards as to who can see this being telecast?

Besides, I think we're all pretty much joshin' about it all. But it is a pretty valid question- someone asked me the very same question this afternoon (about an hour after we got off the phone) and made a similar observation about her following Lance around. No biggie. He's still leading, right?

Koffee,

The tonsil tango discussion yah, I can get that its all tongue in cheek (pun intended)
but there is a definite dissaproval of Lance and what he does. Lots of
I don't like the guy, but he can ride a bike well.
I agree, Georgie and Lance are not in the same situation, but the fact of
the matter is no other rider has his personal life dissected the way that
lance does.
Thats all, and honestly, I'm pretty tired of the holier than thou attitude when
it comes to lance and no one else

just my .02 worth

If I were dating a famous rock star or athlete, I'd play kissy face in front of the cameras. Who cares? There are cameras ALL over the TDF; everything is caught on tape, especially intimate moments. I don't see it as a big deal.

Tell you what. I feel that way about anyone. So if Hincampie is seen dumping his girlfriend and kid, and then goes chasing the podium girls around the support car, let me know so I can start up a new thread about Hincampie... tongue in cheek, of course... (pun intended)

I'm just glad I'm a nobody. Famous people have to have every little thing about their life analized and scrutinized....come on he's human and as such is not perfect.
And I agree, if it bothered him she would not be there.

You are making it sound like it must be Armstrong's fault for the divorce. "He left his wife and children"... do you actually know the details of their relationship?
We could just as easily be saying "Kristen left that poor man, just a few years after he nearly died of cancer, taking a fortune with her" blah blah blah. Makes no sense to me.
I don't think that any of us here know the whole story. Probably only two people do.

True, I'm making assumptions, but so are a whole lot of people, and he's not denying anything. I'm not saying anything new here, and I think based on observations, people assume a lot of things about that relationship, so that's how I base my opinions, as a lot of other people also do. If you think Kristin left the poor guy, do chime in and help us out here, and we'll just lock the thread. Until then, I think anyone is entitled to chime in on their observations. It is true- he is a public figure, and he's opened up his life to everyone, so let's not get all puzzled and confused when people react to his behavior and make observations. We've read his books, we've read through his website, we've looked at Kiki's Corner, and we've watched the Lance Chronicles. Everyone will draw conclusions. If he didn't want this, he should have kept his private life private. We don't see Kristen out in public doing very public things- she obviously knows that people can take things out of context and make all kinds of assumptions and conclusions. That's pretty darn smart.

Do you think people say things like "you're a bad husband/father" to his face? Why would he want to bring up the topic in an interview?

If you think Kristin left the poor guy, do chime in and help us out here, and we'll just lock the thread.
I don't. My point was that saying that she left the poor guy makes just as much sense. It's one thing to guess and observe, but I just think it is really lame to be calling someone a bad person without actually knowing the situation.

I don't see Kristen winning the Tour de France. Maybe she is out in public doing very public things. She is not a famous athlete. Do you really think that OLN would show video clips of Kristen making out with a guy at a resturant in the US? "Here is what Armstrong's ex-wife has been up to in the states this spring." I doubt it.

Regardless, he's a public figure, he opens his life to the public, and it should be no surprise that anyone speculates or talks about his private life, since it's not very private, and he makes no attempt to hide it. So, to each his own, and the speculation will always be there.

Lance's friends are just "icky", don't you think? Robin Williams and Cheryl crow are not on my "people I would like to get to know" list.

calling a marriage quits after so little time is not what I would expect from a man of his dedication and commitment. However, having experienced many of his same highs and lows and seeing how it effects the mind, I can look past the apparently poor relationship decision.

Cool! I had no idea -- this was the first I have heard about the romance (my cycling "career" is still young and bourgeoning).

Here is a link:

https://www.pezcyclingnews.com/?pg=fullstory&id=1935

I'd be happier right now as Hincapie with that blong podium girl than Lance with a 40-something rocker.

I gotta work on developing this cycling career of mine.

Sheryl's not all that hot IMHO. What's worse though is that she's THERE all the time. Heck, I love my wife, but sometimes I don't want her THERE. Lance has no choice. It's like she says "OK Honey. See you at the end. Ride well." If they have a spat or something, you think he'll deliberately throw the stage just to have a few more minutes of peace? OTOH, if things are going along well, he could be like "Follow along and gaze in adoration at my legs and ass"

Cheryl may not be stunningly gorgeous but she has REAL musical talent and flair as opposed to the innumerable lip-synching, surgically enhanced bimbettes out there.
