Just a reminder folks, Livestrong.com <> The Lance Armstrong Foundation. Livestrong.com is a for profit website. I'm sure that nobody ever got confused ever.

As for contemporaries that never doped -- Saul Raisin. Although his career was cut short, he never doped. And from what I've been told, the French teams were under the most strict anti doping controls. That may explain their lack of success in the last 20+ years.

So now that UCI has recognised the findings of USADA where do the Armstrong apologists and fan-boys go now.

Perhaps there will be more bizarre tales of new and bigger conspiracies to show that everyone was out to get him.

It's time to finally face the facts: as a racer he was a cheat, a liar and a bully who has done more harm to the image of road racing than any other rider. Most damning of all he did not have the courage or confidence to try to win without drugs.

I watched Armstrong's speech over the weekend... said it had been a difficult last couple of weeks... he made it years of hell for others and that's okay by him because he was just defending his self-interests.

What a psychopath.

I'm shocked that the UCI didn't appeal to the CAS.

Oh yeah, that little bit about, the Abnormal test at the Tour de Suisse, and the $100,000 might have been a bit awkward.

Isn't this how it started with LA? Only a chance meeting with Dr Ferrari https://www.theage.com.au/sport/cycli...022-281km.html

But no, I'm sure Cadel Evans doesn't dope

They're all a bunch of damn dopers.

+1

Even if he gets dragged through civil litigation for the next 3 years, he won't begin to understand what he did to others, who didn't have the financial means pay for unlimited attorneys fees.

Maybe if he eventually serves jail time, even in a white collar resort prison with conjugal visits, the score will be somewhat closer to settled.

Pfffffffft.

You really need to catch up on current info.

And the USADA case was born out of Novitsky's federal investigation, which was sparked by Floyd Landis' emails in 2010, which was triggered Landis' disgust/bitterness at Lance Armstrong's return to cycling in 2009 and forming of team RadioShack in 2010.

Had Armstrong actually retired in '05 without ever competing again in anything, he wouldn't be in this mess today.

This. It's done all the time in our legal system and people accept it as a regular part of obtaining testimony. But try to do when it runs against someone's over-inflated "hero" and people cry foul.

Lance wasn't lying when

he said "It's not about the bike."

Too bad the pros in our sport have felt compelled to dope/cheat. Let's hope the next generation can resist the pressures to win, no matter the cost.

It was probably those damn clenbuterol-tainted raisins in the cookie.

Yeah, at this point, I can't stand up and say anybody is/was clean. That is just the way I feel about professional cycling.

This is unfortunately the sad state of affairs in the O2 vector doping modern world we live in.

But I won't stand up and say someone is dirty based on their having their stats from one 2x30 threshold road test assessed by Michele Ferrari twelve years ago.

Is there confirmation out there that the cyclists that aided the investigation against Lance, by providing sworn affidavits, received a reduced punishment in exchange for their cooperation?

What I'm saying is that did LA do anything that gave him an unfair advantage over other cyclists, therefore allowing him to win the tour.

No.

Doping and PED use is so perverse and ingrained in cycling that LA's use of PED and doping solely did not cause him to win the tour.

It would be one thing if he was the only guy, but there is a reason why UCI isn't going to award it.

Far better for them to admit the extent of the problem, let the records stand and do a T & R commission.

Plus i think he meant pervasive instead of perverse.
