Tour of CA weather.

I don't remember but what was the weather like this year in California during the time that they WOULD have held the TofCA? Did they dodge a bullet by moving it to May after all?

Pretty much, yeah. Weather this time o' year is usually awesome. This week, we've had temps in mid-70s to low-80s, clear blue skies. Only a bit windy. Rain is usually said & done by Feb/March. Perhaps a very rare storm, but they're dying off quick, too. One possibility: June Gloom could come early. That's where it's cool overnight and we get a heavy morning fog/overcast over the area until afternoon when it burns off.

Cool thanks. Having it in May also means more riders riding hard for TdeF prep instead of just getting in start of the season miles.

Last year's Tour of California had several rain-soaked days in a row. This winter in California was much wetter than last year.

Moving the race to the spring also lets them travel into the middle mountains, which are closed by snow during the winter. The highest mountain roads in California are still usually closed in May, though.

I would love to see some of California's spectacular mountain scenery, like Lake Tahoe or Sonora Pass or Yosemite National Park, make it into the Tour of California some day.
