Ah, I bet for the 'average' American, they'll still think Armstrong is clean after this.

Hmm... remember back when Landis was first accused and he set up that legal defense fund asking his fans to donate to it? Wonder if he's going to give that money back now...

Everyone in the pro peloton is doping, so the playing field is even. Where's the problem again?

Eh, cycling is like baseball to me...there isn't a single pro out there that would cause me to be shocked if I found out they were using performance enhancing drugs in the last ten years. Somewhere along the line, I became jaded enough that I just think of it as "everyone else was doping/using steriods too, so it doesn't reduce the accomplishment".

You have to wonder how some cycling fan in Peoria who sent this guy $50 to help him fight the doping charges feels after reading this story.

I agree with gsteinb, yes Jose Canseco turned out to be telling the truth. On the other hand, in comparison to Landis, Canseco had the credibility of Mother Theresa. Landis is sorely lacking in that department. But anyone with a healthy dose of skepticism has to understand that this doesn't mean some of his allegations aren't for real.

The whole fiasco is so friggin sad and disastrous for the sport it's depressing.
incorrect. people said jose was disgraced etc.

it's a perfect parallel

Why is it that people who called Floyd a liar and said he was a horrible person, disgusting, etc. are now suddenly holding him up as a bastion of truth?

I can't understand his whole accusing other cyclists, sure we all suspect that Lance is less than
pure, but Zabriskie who is supposedly his friend? I see no point in it other than a bitter guy who was
at the pinnacle, fell from grace, unsuccessfully defended himself and now is dragging down anyone
who ever associated with him. He's accused Rhis of Phonak of being aware of his doping and paying for it.
While I'm not so blind as to think he's totally wrong, I do think his credibility is highly in doubt.

All of these guys would sacrifice their first born child if it would guaranteed them a stage win.Why is it so shocking when this crap comes out ??Just wondering.... does team Garmin still claim to be 100% clean with their own independent testing or is that over now??

Amen PCad, you nailed it.

I am not naive enough to think the peleton is clean, do I think Lance, DZ, Levi, Big George doped? Yes I do. They all do, I don't care, that's their choice. What pisses me off is that Floyd wrote his book, did his defense fund raising tour, all that BS to prove he was innocent. Now that he sucks and can't beat anybody clean, he comes out with this. What a piece of *****, he is just making our sport look foolish yet again. People cheat in all sports at all levels. He should have taken it like a man, accepted his punishment and kept his mouth shut.

I've said it before, I'll say it again:

Armstrong is too big to fail.

A rider here and there caught is manageable. Evidence on Armstrong is total implosion of the cycling world. The exodus would result if companies closing, development stunted, jobs lost, fewer races, non-rider public dislike of cycling/cyclists, and on and on. It would take a decade to recover.

Landis is too detailed on this however and there are some facts behind the curtain here. And as much as I'd like Lemond's reputation to go from bitter finger pointer to a I-Told-You-So genius, Lance is too big to fail.

Landis obviously has serious credibility issues, and I think it would be premature to just assume all this is true. However, the level of detail, the apparent documentation, and everything that's become known about doping in professional cycling has got to make you think there may well be something to this.

As more and more people claim to have first hand knowledge of Armstrong doping, it becomes that much harder to reasonably believe that they are all making it up.
