Wah! Contador should have waited because Andy is skeered to go downhill fast on wet roads. Boo hoo! Everyone knows that is cycling courtesy. Not. Grow up Andy boy and grow a pair. Stop waiting for big bro to change your diaper.

I suspect Andy was having flashbacks of 2010's Stage 2 -- the one where he crashed on a wet descent (along with a lot of other guys), lost almost 8 minutes crying and searching for his team car (without trying to fix his bike, if it was broken), and depended on Cancellara to "neutralize" the stage against the organizer's express instructions. Cancellara wasn't in any position to neutralize things today.

Leopard needs to put their eggs into Frank's basket. He's ahead of Andy by a significant margin and he's in much better form than Andy. (And he's not afraid of a descent.) Frank is their only hope.

And this morning, Versus is STILL fixated on Andy Schleck! Never let the events of the race get in the way of your story line, guys!

On the plus side, they did at least mention Cadel Evans' name today -- although they talked a lot more about Contador.

Hello, guys. Cadel Evans. And, the man whose name you never mentioned this morning -- how about FRANK Schleck???

here is a caption under a stage 16 photo of Andy from steephill.tv
Andy Schleck's eyes were full of rain and anger that a downhill finish would cost him over a minute to the GC contenders. If not for time-trialing, descending and climbs where you need to change gears, he could probably win the Tour de France.
...
Though I will say he and Frank did a great job of making it down that tricky descent and catching Contador/Sanchez today.

I think he could have lost even bigger today, except that AC and Evans don't care about him (or not much). Either could have attacked and put time on him today on the decent, but AC thniks of Evans as his competition and knows it would not put time on Evans. Evans is worried about the next 2 stages and does not want to spend energy today.

If AS was still the danger man he would have been pressed today.

This is cool

Owning the fact that he got dropped, not making an excuse of the wet descent.

The Schleck's have sure taken a tumble on the odds makers charts. Andy was even money just 2 days ago, now he's 8.5 to 1 on 365bet and Frank is now at 28 to 1.

Contador is now 11 to 10 and Cadel Evans is 6 to 5

Actually, it's just damage control a day after his legs let him down and his mouth got more bad publicity. He was singing a different tune yesterday after the stage. He came off completely different.

I have a distinct feeling that Contador will be the favorite after tomorrow.

I agree that he sounded way worse yesterday, but you've got to give people a chance to step back, reflect, and set themselves straight. It's better than sticking to Tuesday's line. I mean, these guys are human. They're going to say dumb stuff from time to time, especially when they're frustrated after a bad day.

I agree for the most part. Just like Tyler coming back the next day and saying he was upset and frustrated at not winning. Then actually saying that he shouldn't have said what he did about Cav. Problem with Andy is that its become the norm for him. Then something doesn't go his way, he runs on at the mouth complaining. I really got the sense that he only made the statement this morning because he was clearly put in a bad light by most of the media yesterday. I'm actually starting to like it. It makes me look forward to what nonsense he might say. I fairly entertaining.

It's "become" the norm for Andy? No. Andy has always been a whiner. Anytime he doesn't perform, it's somebody else's fault.

The Tour practically tailor-made the route for Andy this year -- ONE (countem' ONE) individual TT. The Tour at least got the memo that individual TTs are unfair. Sadly, Andy failed to tell them in advance that going downhill is unfair. He probably also failed to tell them that rain on race days is unfair.

Life isn't fair, Andy. You ride a bicycle for a living!! Grow up!

Let's wait for the A sample before dining on raven. There were serious Ricardo Ricco flashbacks strobing today.

Great performance. Just like Ricco.

Ya, know. I stand by my comments. I made them based upon what had happened to that point. Up until today, Andy had been under performing. And he was blaming everyone but himself. Today I give Andy all the credit for going out and seizing the race. He needed to launch a big attack and he did. Now the others kinda messed up not reeling him in sooner. But Andy put them in the position to make that mistake. Instead of playing it cautious or worrying if anyone was following him, he just went. And he didn't stop. Evans and the others let him go for fear of the final climb. That fear came bit them. Evans did it pretty well. If he had gone earlier he might have limited the losses to well under a minute to Schleck.

Contador went from even money last night, to a 25 to 1 on the betting chart right now.

Andy Schleck went from 8.5 to 1 to even money.
