Schlecks are in.

This is looking to be a good field.

Something tells me Cavendish isn't coming to the Rocky Mountains. Just my prediction. Unless the Rockies are actually flatter than they look in photos.

Don't think so...!

Love that Cadel Evans is going to be there. This keeps looking more and more interesting.

Talk of Wiggins and other injured tour riders will help jack up the field.

Also, US Continental Team Bissell appears to have joined the race.

This is embarassing for the Vuelta... In its inaugural year the Pro Cycling Challenge is already taking all kinds of big names.

And a bunch of the great Spanish riders are already out of the Vuelta...

I doubt it, a lot of those riders weren't going to do the Vuelta anyway.

It's much easier to do a 7-day stage race than a second grand tour in a season.

I don't care what they call it, I'm going to be there. Already have all the camp sites, hotels reserved and have checked all the roads that will allow me to get around the race after the start and be waiting at the finish, or places to watch as they pass. The only thing I haven't figured out is where to watch the last stage from.

An excerpt from the "Raceday tips" tab on the following:
https://www.usaprocyclingchallenge.com/stages/prologue

Who to Watch*
* Time Trial Specialists: Taylor Phinney, Fabian Cancellara, Svein Tuft – these riders will be looking to pull off a win in this stage
* Sprinters: Mark Cavendish, Tyler Farrar, Robert Forester

*Final rosters not yet confirmed. Participating riders may change.
Wishful thinking? Marketing? Or possibly a real lineup?

Didn't expect top riders, much less top SPRINTERS. I can see Phinney, but Farrar, Cavendish, and Cancellara would be pretty surprising.

The riders will go where they are told to go if a sponsor wants them there.

If the Schlecks go then why wouldn't they bring Cancellara with them. Plus two of the days are TT's, even if one is uphill. Remember whoever wins the prologue wears the first leaders jersey even in the competition. As for the sprinters, there are a day or two where the chance for a bunch sprint is certainly there. And what team wouldn't want to win an exciting sprint in-front of tons of fans in Denver? Maybe expect more puncheur types then pure sprinters, but the fast men should make an appearance.

These are the results from the first stage of the Tour of California (Stage 1 was canceled, so Stage 2 was the first.)
https://www.amgentourofcalifornia.com...gs/stage2.html

Find Andy. Then look for Frank and Cancellara.

Hmmm, Frank and Fabian didn't do the GdI OR the AToC. What a couple of skaters.

Anyone know of any information on the logistics of attending the races? I would like to go up and watch on the passes (Monarch, Cottonwood or Independence). If I drive up, what time do I have to go? The day before? Parking? If I ride up, when do they kick everyone off the road? Thanks for any help you can give.

wow. okay, finally visited the web site and profiled the course. that long, uphill vail region tt at elevation is gonna hurt...will be nice to have another large effort, quality field, domestic stage race besides the toc. so both the vuelta and the giro have now gotten a little 'sting.' don't see it happening to the tdf tho...

I'm staying in Frisco and using the fantastic bike trails between Vail, Frisco, and Breckenridge to see three stages without having to worry about driving on closed roads, parking when I get there, etc.

I actually think that the Tour de France commercials were frequent enough and well placed, so that at least versus should get enough viewers to justify the TV deal. I hope that the local cyclists get into this. With a field like this it should be a great race.

The promoters are doing a lot of the right things, plenty of press releases, an active twitter feed and facebook page, getting local venues into it as well. Plenty of sponsors, every leaders jersey has one, and there are plenty of others. Not a ton of cycling specific sponsors however, with C-dale and Pearl as the only big cycling sponsors on there.

That uphill time trial might be the best TT the Schlecks ever get

Anyone like to share there thoughts on the jerseys?
https://www.usaprocyclingchallenge.co...y%20Blurbs.pdf

I like what they tried to do here, but the most agressive jersey is kind of boring.

I love the jerseys, especially the fade on the polka dot jersey. A simultaneous nod to the past, with a forward-looking nod to the future with the creativity in design, and hope for the race's success.

+1 on both, with the sprinter's jersey in the same puke green as the Amgen's TOC sprint jersey.

I'll be in Salida for the start of stage one (just down the street from my house), Independence pass for stage two, and Devner for the final stage. Maybe a couple of stages inbetween if it works out with my schedule.
As far as actual logistics of viewing in person, I haven't heard much. I've tried searching, but have not had much luck. I did find this https://bicyclecolo.org/about/pro-rac...csp-pg1213.htm I plan on going up Independence the day before with some friends and camping on the right of way.
I'm very excited to see a race like this come back to Colorado, and especially my town. I can't wait to see what a zoo Salida is on the evening of the 22nd and the morning of the 23rd. Fun stuff!
