Makes sense to me. It's a system where the individual gets the points, not the team; so why give points to a rider who's just going to take them to another team?

Just MO, The "media darling" that he is....if Lance did this very same thing, you think much would be made of it? doubtful. He'd get away with it, why? he's LA.

How many other riders from that team are doing TDF and Vuelta?

Perhaps it would have been more prudent of TH to wait until a bit later to announce he was going to another team?
I can't say that I follow enough to confirm this was some manner of vendetta, but it seems a logical move on the part of the team that knows that rider has other interest. It is like that in most any other profession, you give notice, they show you the proverbial door. It does stink that its done to what I see as a very good rider and from what I know of him, all around decent guy for the sport.

I wouldn't have seen it in the Road forum because I don't go there anymore in order to avoid suffocating via stupidity. I do enjoy discussing matters concerning professional cycling, however, so I'm glad it was moved here.

I think Vaughters' explanation of giving everyone their shot at big races is legitimate, and as usual, I disagree with the conspiracy mongers. Farrar is the only rider that will ride in the Tour and the Vuelta because he's basically the team's only pure sprinter, and he was laying low for 90% of the Tour. There are some names on the Vuelta start list that are great riders in their own right and deserve a chance to ride a grand tour this year.

I'm honestly glad for you too, but I think my point was valid. RangerD started it where he wanted to and I think it should have stayed right there, as it does pertain to road cycling. I've noticed there are inconsistencies in what gets to stay and what goes when it comes to pro discussion in 41.
