Please note that velogames.com has Thor Hushovd as available while Velonews is reporting that he's not going to the Vuelta.

They're also missing Chris Anker Sorenson it seems.

Not impressed with the "All-Rounder" and "Sprinter" choices either. I wish you could just pick nine guys from a master list.

Nevertheless, I picked my team, but haven't joined the BF league yet.

Yeah, they're screwing us over with the lame "all-rounder" choices again. It feels very similar to the TDF where I had to pick Tony Martin but I didn't really want to. I have a feeling my 2nd all-rounder will be picked by a lot of teams.

Keep your eyes open for the nrtoone fantasy game: http://www.nrtoone.com/fantasy/cycling/ It's not open yet, but you can pick whoever you want over there.

Anyway, this is the first grand tour where I don't have a strong feeling about who will win. Should be a fun race.

yah definitely. part of the appeal of the vuelta *for me at least* is that it seems to have more of a 'pickup game' feel to it. not as uptight and fussy as the tdf/giro.
guys injured much of the year. guys looking to redeem themselves and/or get a new contract/team. guys prepping for the worlds. more wide open, less formulaic
and less predictable. always plenty of "who is that guy?!" emerging talent. seemingly not as much creativity given to the route/particulars as in the tdf/giro lately
but optimistic that will change.

Signed up.

Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to watch it though, not seeing it in the TV lineup. Which is unfortunate I really enjoyed coming home and watching the TDF each day, oh well.

I think it's on Universal Sports, right? I know not many providers carry it, but luckily mine does.

Not crazy about my Velogames team, but here it is:

Bradley WIGGINS [16] SKY
Janez BRAJKOVIC [10] RSH
Igor ANTON [20] EUS
Joaquin RODRIGUEZ [22] KAT
Mark CAVENDISH [18] THR
Peter SAGAN [8] LIQ
Marcel KITTEL [2] SKS
Johan VANSUMMEREN [2] GRM
Ian STANNARD [2] SKY

I may regret not taking Nibali, but he was a little too expensive and I feel like the Vuelta is pretty wide open this year. Brajkovic was sort of forced by their crappy list of all-rounders. Anyway, I feel like Wiggins, Brajkovic, Anton, and Rodriguez are all potential podium guys. Anton & Purito should be good for a couple stage wins, at least. Cav is still the best sprinter and I regret not taking him for the TDF. I have a man-crush on Sagan and he should be good for a stage win. Kittel is a no-brainer at 2 points and anything I get from Stannard and Van Summeren will be a bonus.

LIQ Vincenzo NIBALI (11)
LAM Michele SCARPONI (5)
CHR Mark CAVENDISH (11)
RAB Steven KRUIJSWIJK (1)
KAT Joaquin RODRIGUEZ OLIVER (8)
LIQ Peter SAGAN (1)
SKY Bradley WIGGINS (4)
TRS Janez BRAJKOVIC (1)
EUS Igor ANTON HERNANDEZ (4)

That's my nrtoone team. They let you pick anybody you want and it's almost too easy to get a team full of guys you like.

WOAH WOAH WOAH!!! That's just creepy. Here's my VeloGames team:

Bradley WIGGINS [16] SKY
Janez BRAJKOVIC [10] RSH
Igor ANTON [20] EUS
Joaquin RODRIGUEZ [22] KAT
Mark CAVENDISH [18] THR
Peter SAGAN [8] LIQ
Jose Alberto BENITEZ [2] ACG
Juan Lose LOBATO [2] ACG
Jesus ROSENDO [2] ACG

EXACTLY the same except for the 2 point guys. My reasoning is that the Andalucia team is the most likely to be in every breakaway, and since they're on home soil, they'll do everything possible for stage wins.

My nrtoone team is almost the exact same as yours too, except I have Matt Goss instead of Kruijswijk.

I don't know what to say. Fine taste, sir!

To get Nibali you'd have to give up one of the others. I think he'll do well but won't win overall, and he'll always be there in stages but won't place as high as some of the others. I think it was a good call to pass him up.

I took a conscious risk (maybe stupid, maybe brilliant, TBD) to bypass Cav and use the saved points to get a 3rd GC guy. Damn he is the best sprinter alive, but there are lots of 2/3 class last hills on those flat stages, and he doesn't have either his pilot fish or his nurse shark in this race. We'll see. I'm guessing 3 stage wins for him, I will be sad to see those points left on the table, but the game puts so much more weight on GC.

I'm chafed I still had to bleed 6 points on some sprinter in Velogames, but Paolini is my man now and I'll be rooting for him. There were a lot of good picks in the domestiques area. Sagan was definitely one, I don't know Kittel.

"Where's the Beef" wound up with:
Michele SCARPONI [20]
Janez BRAJKOVIC [10]
Igor ANTON [20]
Steven KRUIJSWIJK [10]
Luca PAOLINI [6]
Daniel MARTIN [6]
John DEGENKOLB [4]
Jakob FUGLSANG [6]
Bradley WIGGINS [16]

Over on Nrtoone, like you said, money was no object. There's good points on offer for the final jersey winners (red = 4xstage wins equivalent) but less along the way. Here's what I wound up with there.

John DEGENKOLB (1)
Mark CAVENDISH (11) GBR
Denis MENCHOV (9) RUS
Joaquin RODRIGUEZ OLIVER (8) ESP
Igor ANTON HERNANDEZ (4) ESP
Oscar FREIRE GOMEZ (4) ESP
Greg VAN AVERMAET (3) BEL
Jakob FUGLSANG (1)
Steven KRUIJSWIJK (1)

P.S. those of you without Universal -- it's darn disappointing not being in HD after the splendor of Le Tour. If the TTT is any indication with camera breakup on a sunny day at the coast and fair to middlin' camera/video work, you're missing something but so are those of us with it. There may be some options here that work for you.
