Cycling at the Olympics

I looked at the NBC Sports program, and it appears that men's and women's cycling will be on this Saturday and Sunday. However, they listed it within an 8 hour segment. Is there any way to narrow that down, or do I have to resign myself to fast forwarding through 8 hours of other stuff each day?

fast forward will be your friend

typically NBC shows the race in four segments interspersed with other sports

it is a pain for sure

No, because of what YMCA said.

They want you to watch all 8 hours. This is pretty much how they've been doing it for as long as I can remember.

I am in London for the Games(working on a related project) and they don't even have the timetable for the race posted yet. So I don't think NBC really knows how it will play out yet. Count yourself lucky that you can fast-forward. I have to wait on the side of the road.

I don't have a DVR, so looking forward to knowing an exact time at some point. Hopefully they will release an exact time that is.

They won't. It is intentional to force viewers to watch events they have no interest in. Or more correctly to force users to watch the commercials for those events. Their goal is to make as many users as possible think that what they are interested in may come up next.

Just realized that IF yuo are talking about live coverage you can narrow it down. Do not expect NBC to give any details, but the actual Olympics does have a schedule and that may help if yuo can find it. After all even NBC can't show a race before it happens.

Try downloading the NBC Olympic app for your portable device.

I just installed it on my tablet, and it includes a listing of the scheduled events.

Men's road race is scheduled at 04:00 am (my time, east coast) Saturday July 28.

The men's road race starts on Saturday at 10:00am (London time) and runs, I guess, until the last rider crosses the finishing line. It's about 250k so I'd expect it to take something like 6 hours. How much of it your specific broadcaster will show is another matter.

If you're interested in other events take a peek at https://www.london2012.com

In Canada the CTV network will be showing a compilation of events on Saturday morning, including cycling, but the cable sports channel TSN listing is for cycling from 5 am to noon Eastern. If Zap2it is correct, it appears we will get full coverage of the mens' road race. Perhaps NBC will do something similar in USA on NBC Sports?

Although NBC pays really big bucks for Olympics, they don't usually broadcast nearly as much as our Canadian networks do. Never made sense to me.

How to see the whole mens road race all of it

Here is how to see the whole road race, all of it start to finish for the GOLD.
This is the first gold medal in cycling.
Mens road race is 1:50 AM on Saturday, PST west coast US time.

go to https://www.nbcolympics.com/index.html

and click ONLINE LISTINGS and go from there.
------------------------

OR directly:

Go to https://www.nbcolympics.com/online-li...-28/index.html

scroll down to Cycling.
See Mens Road race.
Click on email me.

NBC will email you when the event is starting where you can see the
whole thing over the ineternet. Events not on TV, or compressed on TV,
will be shown on the internet.
every event, all them, start to finish.
the catch, you have to be there at the computer at that time to see it.

I have emails inbound for the road race, archery finals, air pistol finals on Saturday.

Seem the other sports that day are not, or sports I don't know anything about.

I woke up early hoping to watch this race live. Got my laptop hooked up to my TV waiting for it to start.
I also have access to my company's VPN server in the UK, so I could access the BBC iPlayer too. I wonder which network will have better coverage of this event.

The bike race starts in 4 minutes (the broadcast starts in 4 minutes)

in USA live on nbcolympics.com (as long as your cable provider includes
msnbc, although that is not the station carrying the race, you need to be subscribed to that in order to watch over the internet, it is working fine on my computer here.

At this site nbcolympics you must have an American ISP.

There are proxy ISP on the internet that allows foreigners to have an American ISP.
one site that does this is:
https://www.whatsonthebox.net/watch-o...nline-with-vpn

For those outside of the US, I think this stream might work outside of France. It's decent quality and there is no commentary.

I think I have everything I need, but just a black square where the coverage should be. At least I get it on TV.

No spoilers !

All I can hear is intermittent audio from the loudspeakers and ambient sounds. Why isn't there a commentary feed?

Would love to hear Sherwin and Schlanger, the Canadian announcers are uninspiring.

Since road cycling is team sport, and in case like Cavendish, other 4 riders are focused on delivering him to the line, shouldn't all the riders get metals if one of their guys wins? Discuss
