Criterium du Dauphine

Anyone fired up for this event? What notable riders will be in it?

I see it's televised tape delayed on NBCSH every day at 1:00am CST.

Not really fired up, one of those stage races the pros use to tune the engine for the TdF. The top French GC guys, Nibali, Dan Martin, others will be waiting for the Tour de Swiss starting Saturday 9th June.

It's televised (delayed) on Sportsnet in Canada, so I'm looking forward to it.

I wonder if more GC guys will use the Tour de Suisse since the TdF starts a week later this year?

I missed the fantasy Giro but I'm in for the Dauphine...I don't see a BF league but that's okay...I don't need the embarrassment.

since you asked:
site: https://www.velogames.com/criterium-du-dauphine/2018/
league name: bike forums!
league code: 892008512
deadline: sunday, june 3rd 12:00 cest

it's really really weird. i was already enrolled in two "bike forums" leagues before i created one with the "!" at the end to distinguish. seems like if you played the bike forums giro and then created a
dauphine team, you're automatically entered. all the names entered in the dauphine all familiar from the giro. and there is a little overlap. so i guess i'm now entered in three "bike forums (!)" leagues.
bizarre.

regardless, some of my fave riders absent from the giro are riding. some go all out. some do recon. some get a longer leash than usual. some become super-domestiques.
fun race with a variety of styles, lengths and challenges.

dunno...if he doesn't end up riding the tour de suisse, he's likely getting a crash course/doing recon in the pyrenees/alps for the tdf.
i think he'll end up "skipping" the tour de suisse as well. froomie's gonna need every last bullet in that big webley for this tdf.

I think on Velogames the league carry over from the start of the season. That's probably why there are two leagues already. I'll probably join the new one so that I can embarrassed myself in front if any new comers to the league.

I had put Bernal on my team until I found out he wasn't racing. Glad I found out before the start.

I don't grok "webley", but I get your drift. Based on his performance at the ToC, Bernal looks like the perfect super-domestique to tow the SKY king up the mountains.

I'm not a SKY-hater like some here. I do sort of resent the idea that the team with the most money always wins, but with bike racing I can focus on the individuals when they are compelling. In 2013 I was thrilled to see Froome win after he had so faithfully worked for Wiggins in 2012. I rooted for Richie Porte to emerge from Froome's shadows.. Now I'm kind of excited to see what mark Bernal will make.

@ooga-booga Your team is off to a good start for this race

If anyone who has already joined one of the bike forums' leagues, that person will automatically be placed in the league when they make their Tour de Suisse team, or any race in the future. Looking forward to the rest of the season.

The Polish Horse is doing me well so far, and I'm really looking forward to the next four stages in the race.

haha thanks. i can't possibly do any worse at the dauphine than last year. finished 4192 of 4192. dfl. of course, none of my riders cost more than 10 points with the majority being 8-pointers. just a lark.

I on the other hand, can't believe I'm winning. I guess I was lucky choosing Kwiatkowski and Alaphilippe.

Thanks, couldn't resist the pun. The squad had a good race, getting into the top 1000. Had Thomas, Bardet, Martin and Impey (!) and yet 977 people finished ahead of me -- you must have to be clairvoyant to win one of these things!

not that any of them are easier but i feel it's a little easier to peg the gt's and the classics vs the small one week tours. most riders seem to use the one week tours to get in shape for the gt's and
overall winners seemingly "chance" into the leader's jersey and win the overall. ofttimes, it seems like everyone's trying not to win it. wish the weeklong tours were spaced out a little better and got more street cred.
paris-nice, tirreno, cataluna, romandie, toc, dauphine and the tour de swiss (and a few others) are all fantastic races but kinda fall by the wayside with the one-days and the gt's getting the lion's share of the kudos.

I really need to figure out the domestique picks I make. My M.O. seems to be to get it right on the big names but come nowhere close on the lesser names. I had two riders with no points, another with 5 and a forth with 18! The rest of you had riders that ALL scored points...I guess I've got three weeks to figure it out! Congrats Dance Man!
