I have been pleased that Sportsnet has broadcast quite a bit of cycling this spring, but there has been nothing since baseball started. Have I been missing something, perhaps on TSN or some other channel? I much prefer TV over internet.

While I appreciate Sportsnet coverage, I hate the fact I have to hunt and search to see what races are being covered, and when they are being broadcast. I've tweeted them several times asking for information, no responses.

It bugs me they don't show some of these races live...instead they broadcasts eight repeats of "Blue Jays in 30" on Sunday mornings on Sportsnet One.

Even their broadcast schedule on the website often needs to be updated.

I see Sportsnet is showing the Tour of Turkey and the Tour of Romandie next week.

Thank you, I might have missed them. I see Ryder Hesjedal is riding in Liege-Bastogne-Liege tomorrow (Sunday) but it will not be on Sportsnet.

I bet I have watched more cycling on tv over the past year than any year of my life. And not just TdF - all sorts of lesser known tours and races. I forget what the event was, but there was a really cool 4X style race through the streets of some European town. That was a pretty cool reward for watching TV at 3 AM.

It will be on Sportsnet from 12 AM to 2 AM on Monday morning. RDS (French) have it on Sunday from noon to 3:30 pm.

I've set my PVR to record all cycling on sportsnet, so i'll see if I can catch the re-broadcast.

I enjoyed the Tour of Turkey more for the scenery than the racing. It was nice to see an African and Turk do well, though. (I still haven't watched stage 8 so I don't know who won).

I enjoyed the Tour of Romandie more than Turkey because it had bigger names and Garmin-Sharp, my favourite team. The audio was often poor as the background noise was too loud and even drowned out the announcer a couple of times. That is not Sportsnet's fault, but the originating broadcaster should have realized that we don't want the helicopter and motorcycle sounds to be so loud.

Too bad Sportsnet had no cycling for about 3 weeks, then 2 stage races at the same time. I can't spend that much time watching TV so did a lot of fast-forwarding. They fell a full day behind at one point, coverage was often in the middle of the night, and I missed the conclusion of one stage because it occurred after my DVR had stopped recording.

I see that stage 1 of the Giro will start at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, so no live coverage. Sportsnet has done that before on weekends but I expect we will get live coverage during the week. Fortunately we get 3.5 hours on Saturday.

Looking forward to Stage 3 along the Amalfi coast. Was there 2 years ago and the scenery is beautiful. Also looking forward to the stage that concludes in Florence, one of my favourite cities.

i think it was actually pretty cool that the first five or ten minutes had no dialogue
just the sounds of motorcycles and helicopters and images of cyclists and scenery

Hmmm, we get a British commentary for the Giro instead of Gogulski and Schlanger. I'm not sure whether that is good or not. We got the entire stage one and I wonder whether that will continue.

I like Gogo but I must admit that this British coverage is better. For one thing they are not in a studio in USA.

I can't catch the name of the announcer, sounds like Carter Kevie. He is excellent. His assistant is Daniel Lloyd, a Garmin rider just 2 years ago.

Its Carleton Kirby (he spelled it out). Amazingly he does not have a Wikipedia page.

I still like Carleton Kirby after hearing him through 9 stages, but he is a lot like Phil Liggett in recent years. Liggett is an excellent announcer but Paul Sherwin has to frequently correct him. I love Kirby's style but gets excited unnecessarily and Lloyd tries to interject but Kirby keeps on talking. Thank god for Paul Sherwin and Dan Lloyd.

Sportsnet carried the first stage of the Tour of California live, but the next few days it will be delayed coverage in the middle of the night. There isn't that much happening on a Monday afternoon that they shouldn't be able to carry the Tour live on one of their many channels.

David Harmon is absolutely and unequivocally the best cycling presenter out there. Sadly, he's not doing the Giro this year, don't know why. He and Sean Kelly make a fantastic team.

Declan Quigley has taken Harmon's spot this year at Eurosport, presenting the Giro with Sean Kelly. There's really no reason to watch coverage by anyone else. Eurosport is the best. What I do is download the stages at cyclingtorrents.nl and watch the Eurosport coverage in the evenings. I don't know why anyone would want to listen to American presenters.
