Uran to OPQS?
So the reports say. Why does this make sense?
OPQS have just spent a bundle signing Cavendish and are reaping stage win after stage win, with buckets of TV exposure, their logo has been front and center constantly, signing Cav has been very successful from a commercial and sporting sense. So why would they now sign a GC contender who will be quite expensive as well? Not even Sky could support both a GC effort and a sprint/green jersey effort. You don't risk your investment in the most reliable stage winner in cycling by taking away his team support. Yet Uran surely isn't being signed as a routine domestique.
I don't get it.
I thought that, if anything, OPQS needed to plan for the post-Boonen era, by developing or signing young rouleurs.

I agree, they don't have the depth nor, I'd say, the willingness to support a podium GT contender...
but then, how many teams will be around that can/will offer him the leadership role in a GT and a top-rate salary?
Maybe Garmin or Kutusha

I'm just hanging around mostly to pick up knowledge but is it possible that his agent is throwing Omega Pharma out there just as a bidding ploy to hear a better offer from another team? I mean this kind of thing happens in boxing before fights are actually signed all the time.

OPQS should stick to what it has done best since the beginning (early 90's),
Win Classics and stages, with roleurs and sprinters.
And most deadly of all, the roleur/sprinter.
