Absolutely, Sagan was easily the best sprinter there. Degenkolb has to be disappointed that there's that much of a gap between him and the real top sprinters though.

Before Sagan took off, it looked as though there were going to be a lot of riders in the hunt for a win, but it became quickly apparent they were all posing as sprinters once Sagan took off! The difference in speed was startling. Much was made of Degenkolb being a world class sprinter, but he was really outclassed today. But at least he can climb and be in the bunch at the end of a stage like this, unlike Cav, Kittel and Greipel.

Green Jersey race over before it got started.

Hope someone can stop team black from doing the same to the overall tomorrow.

Sagan is something special. He has the chance to do things that haven't been done in a long time. Lombardy might be out of his reach but the other 4 monuments might be possible.

After the last two stages I'm thinking there will be some pain in the Pyrenees tomorrow.

I am surprised that Degenkolb was beat so badly.

I wouldn't say that anything is completely out of reach for him. In his first year he wasn't too much better than Cavendish at getting over the climbs. He drove his domestiques like animals today, think he owes them a few rounds. I don''t ever recall seeing a team on the front for that long. Then he executed perfectly in spite of getting boxed in and almost pushed into the cattle guards.

And he certainly took advantage of his opportunity.....haven't seen it yet myself.
Just heard it on Al Jazeera.
