Tejay almost runs into a doofus on Alpe d'Huez
Hard to tell whether Tejay felt that chap was getting too close; or whether Tejay's frustration boiled over upon seeing a KOM jersey paired with striped shorts.

Looks like the doofus ran into TVG...probably drunk. He looked a little surprised when he punched him.
Some fans just get too close. Remember when Contador punched that one fan in the face. Funny stuff. |
Riblon gave someone a smack first time up the Alpe too.
|
Them cyclist back probably full of welt after all the back slaps they get from the fans. Would it be mean if they wear a jersey with tiny carbon fiber spikes?
|
I saw this real time and what I noticed was the other spectator shoving him into the path of TJV. This happens loads, yes they're idiots for bouncing about trying to keep up with them but the static spectators are often just as much of a nuisance too.
And another thing, those cameras on the end of a stick are really winding David Harmon up lol! |
obviously those people mean nothing to the organizers of the race since they have done everything they possibly could this year to minimize the Alpe D'Huez.
|
That wasn't a punch it was a push-off, lol.
|
If I rode up to some mountain stage view spot, camped overnight, then waited hours for the Tour to ride by, only to have some clown run right in front of me, there would be more punching...

While fans have always been crazy I get the feeling its been gradually getting worse. Way more looking into the camera and "it's about ME getting on TV" than the race itself. I'd rather see the fans cheering their support running a few paces next to the riders than most of what I see now. Many are cheering into the camera, oblivious to the riders, and worse yet, many stopping their run in the middle of the road before realizing there's and entire group of riders and cars/cycles right behind.
Of course we rant about it every year but the "etiquette" of the fan seems to be breaking down. |
Replace the lead vehicles from motorcycles to snowplows.

Someone punched Eddy Merckx in the kidney while he was riding up the Puy de Dome in the TdF 1975.
|
Probably the same guy that let his dog off the leash
|
I'd like to see them just give the motorcycle drivers on the lead bike a taser to use. Or outfit the motorcycle with a hotwire on both sides and have the driver swerve a bit as he goes up the road.
|
I too feel it has gotten worse. Amazing how many people you see not watching the road but rather turned and jumping up and down waving at the camera.
|
There was some guy mooning the camera last night when TVG passed him. It was pretty close to where the barricades started.

This is the Contador punch: http://velonews.competitor.com/2011/...ent/contipunch If you watch the video it doesnt look as bad. The guy shouldnt have touched Contador. In any case, fans are out of control and this will continue. How do you police a 10 mile mountain road filled with 300,000 (if we believe the commentators) people who have been drinking all night and day? |
Crazy fans are like fightng in hockey. If they don`t stop it, people will keep watching.

Dont forget the guy who got clocked on Stage 5.
|
Brain fart with the commentators there sorry guys lol!
|
Looked like more aggressive than usual positioning of motorbikes and cars between riders and fans today.
Also, at what point is a butt slap a sticky butt slap vs a push... |
