Cycling TV coverage in USA?

I have Dish Network. I know that cycling is broadcast on NBCSN, USN, and BeInSport, all of which Dish Network carries. But to upgrade and get all three channels, I'd have to double my bill. Sorry, ain't gonna happen ...

Dish Network offers French TV: "TV5 Monde" and "Bouquet". To add one of these would be a lot less expensive. Does anyone know if either of these broadcast a 'lot' of cycling? And, since I don't speak French, would English subtitles be available?

Thanks.

I have Dish as well with America's 250 which includes NBCSN and BeIn but not USN. I use these two websites:
steephill.tv
cyclingfans.com
and watch online. Usually the races are on Eurosport and it's nice to have some different commentators plus the commercials (not very many) are not bad. The only drawback is you cannot record them but almost always there are highlight videos on youtube.com a few hours after the race ends. Sometimes the whole race is on there.

Use a Chromecast and the Chrome browser and watch on a big screen TV. That's what I do. I watched the Tour of Utah last year that. I have seen most of the European CX races live over the internet. Sometimes the language is Dutch but they use enough English and lower 3rd graphics to keep up with the racers.

To use Chromecast, do you need a computer running Chrome located in the room where the TV is?

It basically displaying the selected tab from the Chrome browser on your TV, right? Any controlling (pointing, clicking) has to be done back on the computer?

TV 5/Monde has no cycling or other sports, by the way. I had that channel for a couple of years.

By the way, anyone know of an application that allows you to do unattending recording of a stream?

I'm on the West Coast, the races usually start extremely early in the am and end very early. The Dubai Tour stages' TV streams started around 2 am and ended around 3:30 am. Watching them live was not really an option.

The computer doesn't have to be in the same room. You will need a wi-fi network though. Once you start casting the Chrome tab there isn't much pointing or clicking to do other than go to full screen which you do on the computer after you start casting.

Youtube.com has video later. The 2 websites have links to the videos. You might be able to save the flash video with a program. There are several for sale just search for Flash download programs. VLC might work.

Does anyone have experience with cyclingtv.com? Looks like $10/month may be acceptable if it delivers what it advertises? Thanks curtwally

I've subscribed for a couple of years. You won't get the grand tours with it, as they're "blacked out" in the U.S., but there are lots of other good races, including the current Paris-Nice. Commentators are pretty good too; at least better than Phil/Paul, in my opinion.

steephill.tv and hahasport.com can find just about any race (and other sporting event) you want. eurosport commentators actually know what they are talking about and a few can translate french, spanish, flemish interviews when they don't answer in English. The short and less annoying commercials are nice and they don't stick them in the middle of the last 4km like NBC whatever likes to do. "hey it's the finale of the race... cut to commercial with Bobke acting like a dumbass!"

how do you get around Eurosport live video not being available in the U.S.?

Those sites contain links of unauthorized streams that originate in Europe, so you're streaming content from Europe in real time. Issue with them can be unwittingly downloading spyware and the fact that you can't watch delayed. Most of us work or can't watch on a European schedule, so being able to watch on demand is nice.

I am happy. Joined up today for $10/month and it seems good. So far nothing in HD but did watch Paris Nice and a Belgium race while spinning at home. It is worth it. Thanks for the good information. Curt
