2014 TdF only one TT?

Seems odd that there's only one TT this year, when there's usually at least 2 or 3, including at least one Team TT. Of course this is only my 3rd year actually watching and paying attention to Le Tour. What's up with that?

Ebbs and flows from mountains more important to TT's.

I like it personally. Keeps things a bit more interesting.

In 2011 they only had one TT of 43km around Grenoble. Evans's year. This time it's also on the penultimate stage but longer and with more climbing.

The TTT has always been completely optional. It comes in and out of fashion like skinny and baggy jeans.

In past seasons they've had well over 100kms of time trial total, so the emphasis has definitely been reduced there. I guess the feeling was that it used to give the likes of Armstrong and Indurain too much of an advantage over climbers like Pantani and Chiapucci?
