why is Lemond being a jerk?
I read that he is still after Lance who now we all know came clean. I just also read that others from that time are saying that the UCI med doctor was also in on the drug game. If most of the top guys are all guilty as charged and as we know they could not give the medals to any of the top guys for the 7 years of Lance rule, let's just say they all did it to compete so all are bad and move on.
Lemond who is now borderline Obese is out to get Lance. Lemond was a great champion during HIS time. Lance was the best at his time (cheating was allowed) so now we have a cleaner bunch but not clean all around.
Move on Gregg.....you are fast becoming more of a jerk.

Lance went after him in a pretty bad way and annihilated his company. I can understand the hard feelings.

Dude....LA tried to ruin him. Destroyed his business. Tried to completely force him out of the sport. He has a right to be angry. I don't think he's being a jerk anyway, he was asked by the media for his opinion and he gave it.
What does it matter how much he weighs now anyway? Have you seen Eddy Merckx lately?

Lance cheated and so did all the riders during his era. However, Lance stands alone in the way he attacked anybody that called him out. Lance has admitted to being vicious and his attacks were deeply personal. Lamond has every right to still be pissed with Lance. And Lemond is not the only one Lance attacked that still holds harsh feelings about Lance. He made his own bed, he can sleep in it.
I don't hate Lance for the doping, but I do hate the way he treated former friends, teammates and allies.

I read his recent comments and don't fault him at all for saying them....and I'm still kind of like Lance.
Armstrong was pretty bad to Lemond, going after his business, trying to keep him out of cycling and all....and frankly, Lemond was the better champion.

The other guys are certainly right, but like most high-performing athletes/famous personalities, he's a difficult person that has caused a lot of his own issues. LA certainly went after people with destruction in mind, but Greg had well-publicized battles with Trek and has tangled with virtually every business partner he's ever had.
Like many people, LeMond has been a victim of bad luck, but he's also caused some of his problems as well. Had he focused on marketing himself aggressively as a brand and been easier to do business with, he could have capitalized off his TDF distinction more than he has been able to thusfar.

Could also be some of the lead poisoning eating at him, plus a bad back from a recent car crash, people try to screw him from the get go, from Hinault to Lance. To getting shot by his brother in law, I be angry also.
jeez.
jeez.

People like Lance are what evil really looks like. They will do anything to advance themselves including non-stop cheating, pathological lying, and character assassination.

No question Lance screwed him over pretty bad...but when I see somebody like Lemond that just can't seem to get along with anybody he gets into business with, I always think of the saying "The common element in all of your failed relationships is you." Lance being a raging A-hole and Lemond being a jerk are not mutually exclusive options. Both may be true statements, even if you think one of them screwed over the other.

A lot of people don't know that Greg is bulking up to enter the equally competitive world of cage fighting. When asked why he would do this, he said he is still pissed off about Lance and being shot and he needs to channel this anger.

Good to hear that I'm not alone in my feelings towards the way in which LA continued his lying, cheating and stealing charade.
Instead of coming clean so we didn't have to waste our time and resources catching him, he doubled-down on his viscous smear campaigns to discredit those who knew the truth.
I think Hyno Toad's well-written response above is spot-on.

Read Tyler Hamilton's book. Lance deserves no mercy.

As others have pointed out, Lemond:
1. Is completely vindicated after years of suffering personally and professionally because refused to be dishonest.
2. Is TO THIS DAY the only great champion who's been honest and forthright about doping in the peloton.
3. Is famous for being allergic to double-speak. He has never minced words. What you see is what you get.
4. Is suffering from chronic lead poisoning where the more he exercises, the sicker he becomes. Also, recently broke his back. Maybe give him a little break about gaining weight?
/just realized that this is likely a troll post and I was nicely fished in...

The only subtext more disappointing would be to learn that Lemond was responsible for deflating the footballs at the Patriots game.
Anybody see him there?
