Suggestions for first pedal bike for 4 year old?

My son is 3.5 years old. He's really into his pedal tricycle, but has never taken to the balance bike for whatever reason.

I'm thinking of just trying to go straight to a pedal bike. Any suggestions on which one to get, or some to check out?

My advice would just be to take him to a bike shop to look for something instead of a department or toy store, so you can be sure that he's riding something assembled properly, made from decent materials, and able to be correctly fit to him. Many shops, such as the one I work in, will often have decent pre-owned kids' bikes at discounted prices, and/or "trade-up" programs for new bikes, which may entail a future trade-in credit towards a bigger bike as your son grows.
