Trip to Myrtle Beach

I am planning a trip to Myrtle Beach this summer, and I am taking my bike. I have a roof rack, and am very confident in hauling the bike from Ohio. Has anyone taken their bike to Myrtle Beach, and if so where did you ride. Also does anyone have one of those bike covers that protects the bike while it is on the car, and how do you like it?

Myrtle Beach is nice so long as you are not there during peak tourism season.
I moved down there for the summer with my girlfriend from college many many moons ago during our summer break and the entire summer it was pathetic. There is a road and boardwalk that stretches the entire length of the beach, but it was so jammed full of college kids that driving was painful, you could seriously walk and get to your destination faster, imagine Mardi Gras but instead of drunk people wlaking the streets it's drunk people driving them, or rather attempting to.
The boardwalk was not much better. I didn't bike back then, but I do recall it being so full of people roller blading, biking, walking, pushing strollers, people pushing drugs, etc that it was easier to just walk the beach.

This is just my experience though, a little bit further south in Muriels Inlet it was much nicer though, which was kinda odd. You could say that Muriels was a suburb of Myrtle Beach but it was rarely full of people, kinda like once they hit the sign that said "Now Leaving Myrtle Beach" they turned around and headed back the other way because it wasn't "cool" to cruise any other spot. The beach was cleaner and the roads were tollerable there.

Thanks. We are going to be in Cherry Grove, and I figure if I ride from 5Am and try to get back before 10 I should be OK. I want to ride the length of Ocean Blvd. I know it stops in a few places, so I will have to jump on 17 and then back down, but I am hoping it will be a good time. I am not a long distance rider, but I know that the 40 or so miles I want to do down there will be decent being the area is about as flat as can be.

The more I ride the better I get, the better I get the more I ride.

Maybe you can shoot this fellow BF poster a PM. He lives down there. He'll likely tell you the same about the drunks on the strand.
