Trek 3700 or Giant boulder?

My 12 and 10 year old daughters need new bikes. They are tall so they need adult models. I have preferred bike shop bikes, so in the past I have bought used Treks (I don't like to spend lots of money because they grow so fast - 4 inches in one year). They will use the bikes primarily around town, but may occasionally go off road. I don't want to spend more that $250 and less if possible. My research indicates that the Giant Boulder and Trek 3700 are comprable. Any thoughts? Or other suggestions? Thanks.

Love my Trek 3700 and so does my daughter. She's 12, maybe not quite so tall but we use our Treks around town, off road and in the mountains. Great bikes and no break downs, not even a flat! Good luck! Happy riding!
