How old for tag-along?

I have a 19 month old daughter and I just can't wait for the day when she's ready for a tag-along. How old do kids have to be before that? My guess would be 4-5?

Thanks.

Typically they can start holding on around 3, pedaling around 4. Each kid is different though.

My experience: 4 to 5. They have to be able to hold on, and pay attention. They have to understand that too much wiggling around back there can cause a crash. I put toe clips on too because her feet would frequently slip off the pedals.

My daughter's about outgrown hers now at 8. Probably be looking to sell it soon if someone in the area's interested.

Adams has a seat back for their Trail-A-Bike that has a seat belt system and is rated at age 3 and up. Adams doesn't get much respect on this board.

Our younger daughter started riding the trail-a-bike a lot around the time she turned 4. Much younger and she really couldn't reach the pedals, so that was a limiting factor.

Some manufacturers have child seats for their carriers.
