Looking for New Bike for Wife

Her old bike is a heavy, junky mess. No quick release anything....very heavy....lousy components. And it needs a major tune up. Thought about getting her a newer, lighter more technically advanced bike then what she has (not hard to do considering what her current bike is). Nothing to break the bank. Want to keep it under $600. Aluminum frame...not a road or mtn bike....bike path/trail bike. Like a Trek Fx 7.2 or something similar. Not a grandma looking bike...something a little sporty. Ideas?

Look at something with an internal gear hub, like a nexus, rotating the grip shift is intuitive.

Happen to be looking at a Bike Friday Tikkit, myself they fold up so storage at home is not a problem
all decent components, the one with the IG hub is called the Season Tikit.

They are made in Eugene Oregon and really mean lifetime service.

Trk 7.2 or Specialized Sirrus. Neither or these carry the excess weight of a suspension fork. They look fast at whatever speed you roll.

A Giant Cypress is ridden by a friend of mine. She loves it. Giants, TO ME, seem to be a good bike for the money .

Check out the Trek hybrids, specifically the 7000. I bought one for my wife 8 years ago (it was the 700 model then) and it is still going strong. No problems or issues of any kind with this bike. It turned my wife from a non-rider to a rider. Your wife will feel like she is driving a caddy! Today we rode 20 miles. Also, my daughter rode this Trek 150 miles over a couple of days a few years ago. Each year I appreciate this bike more and more. Check it out, I think she will really like it.

Be sure to let her try them out for ergonomics (fit and comfort) Some of those flat bar road bikes have enough forward lean to really put some pressure on the wrists.

Go with the Trek Hybrid because it is multipurpose and hold up well on distance. Those Townies and Electra type bikes just look nice and can't really do much more than cruise.

Try out the Giant Dash 3---at about $580 it is a very nice bike. A little more of a Fitness bike and less of a true hybrid, ---my daughter purchased one and really likes it.
