hi gang

im considering biking and i saw a huffy road bike 4 159.00 at walmart....is this a good brand for the price?and whats the deal with these railiers?i cant make hyde nor hair of them..

There are a couple of recent postings about WalMart bikes in this section. Not specifically about the Huffy brand, but about the quality and assembly of mass merchandiser (Target, WalMart, KMart) in general. If you don't want to go more than a few miles at a time or meander on down to the local grocery store, then any of their bikes will probably do OK. I fix up bikes for kids and recently rode past a Huffy at the curb on garbage day. It wasn't in really bad shape but I ended up leaving it because getting it to work really well is nigh unto impossible. Were I you, I'd go on the local Craigslist and look for a second hand bike that originally came from a bike store instead of a WalMart/KMart/Target. It's probably a better bike to begin with and would likely have been assembled correctly when it went out the door of the shop.

To find out what owners thought about any particular bike go to Google and put in the name and model of the bike along with "review for" and it should come up.

thanks i forgot to mention i have a problem with the derailiers too.i just cant get the hang of them and id perfer buying a new bike rather than buying a used bike..whats the story with
autobikes?are they good or not?

So is the problem that you can't figure out how to shift (or when to shift) or you don't know how to adjust them or something? If you don't know how to shift (and aren't interested in learning) I've heard that walmart had a singlespeed cruiser that some people thought was decent. Maybe it was called the Paver?

I saw one of these at our local store about a year ago. Looked like a decent bike but probably needed adjusting, and the rear brake cable was not connected. If your not prepared to do basic maintenance I would go to Bike Shop. If you don't mind or enjoy a little wrenching on you bike these can be great deals. Remember to keep them lubed and clean.

i wouldent mind learning but my friend tried to teach me but to no avail..i live in new jersey
isnt there saomeplace that still sells the older non deraillier bikes?when i was a tot all we had
were the older non deraillier type bike and it was easy...now forget bit..at least 4 me.
