Trek 7500FX

Hi Everyone,

Tommorow I'm planning on heading down to my local bike shop and getting measured up for a Trek 7500FX (and possibly take it for a test). I just thought I would say thank-you to all the great people on this forum posting useful comments on the bike, and who have made me come to a decision. I'll hopefully enjoy many a cycle with it. I'll post how I get on as well, and any comments I have on the bike. Oh, and I've got one question. Up until now, I've only ever cycled a mountain bike - will it be quite difficult to 'stay on' the bike, or will I not notice much difference? Any tips on how to get used to it if so?

Kind Regards,

Richard Wylde.

If the folks at the lbs do a good job of fitting the bike to you it should be very comfortable and easy to ride. I went from a mountain bike to a 7700 and was amazed at how much easier it was to ride. You will love it.

The only tip you need is to ride ride ride. In no time at all you will feel right at home on your new ride!

Well - we had a long discussion about the difference between getting it as a 17.5" or a 20". I eventually decided on a 20" (after having a ride on both sizes), as it felt better, and being 15 years old I thought it would allow me to grow. So, it's ordered, and I'm probably going to wait till Chirstmas to get it - seems fair on my parents as their paying 3/4. Anyway, just like to say thanks to all again.

Richard.

Find it and put it on lay-away...they go FAST! I love mine!

Well - I went for my first ride today - and wow! We had some trouble with the front wheel as it had to be taken off to get it home from the LBS, and it was rubbing on the brakes so after about an hour of re-adjusting it finally stopped rubbing. I took it out for a spin afterwards and I've never felt anything move so fast! Hope you all had a good Christmas.

Congrats on your top-of-the-line hybrid!

I am now thinking of getting a 7500FX. I was leaning towards a hybrid with suspension forks but in test riding them they felt slow and I doubt I really need them.

Q.-I am guessing my riding will be 50% pavement, 50% packed gravel. Will the tires

2004 7500FX-Bontrager Select Kevlar belt 700 x 35
2005 7500 FX-Bontrager Race Lite Hardcase 700 x 32

be suitable for flat gravel paths and this type of riding?

Is one better than the other?

Hi There,

I think both options will be fairly safe. I've not yet used mine on gravel, but I know of others on this forum who have and experienced no problems. It's probably worth asking your LBS their oppinion on this, and waiting for another forum member to help out.

Sorry I could not be of more use,
Richard.
