Schwinn trailer modification and road bike

Just got the wife interested in riding - for her birthday she got a Jamis Allegro. She wanted something to pull the kids with to the park. We decided to buy a trailer.

Found a Schwinn brand trailer at Target for reasonable price (aluminum frame, seemed to have decent wheels/construction). Hooked up easily to her bike. I thought it would be nice for me to be able to also pull the kids when we go on a local bike trail.

I have a Giant OCR2 and I bought another trailer coupler online from the Instep website (apparently Instep makes Schwinn trailers). Was cheap like $10. Went to put it on my bike and discovered that the rear dropout was too small to accommodate the coupler.

I figured there has to be a way to modify the coupler. Went to Home Depot and bought a dremel tool with metal cutting disk. I figured the worst that could happen was that I would destroy the $10 coupler.

Needless to say lots of sparks but was able to get it to nicely fit. Looks a little amateurish but works and I'm no professional. Seems to still be strong and I've been pulling the kids for over a week without problems.

I haven't seen anyone else post anything like this so thought I would share the info.

I'll try to add pics soon.
