CX with a baby seat?
I have a baby. I have a road bike that needs to be "fitted" to me (reach to bars is a smidge too long). I have a MTB that I use 90% of the time because it can go every where that the road bike can go ( slightly slower) and a few million places that the roadie can not go. I use it mostly because the baby seat is mounted to it. This bike has a cheep suspension fork that is blown and needs to be felt with. Clearly, when I want to go riding i have to figure out where I am going riding, who or what I need to portage* and all kinds of other things.
In MY perfect world I would like to liquidate the two bikes and replace them with a cross bike or frame that will let me mount my fenders and lights and bb seat and then just be "the bike I ride" unless I'm doing real MTBimg. Do any of you have expeience with riding a drop-bar bike with a baby sitting on the back deck? Discuss. *yes, I stole this from one seriously funny blogger. |
... not with a rear-mounted kid seat, but my CX bike is my one and only bike that does everything: single track, roadie club rides, centuries, hauling kids to school in the trailer up and down hills, trips to the library with kids (etc.), and even some winter spinning on a mag late at night when there's no time or the weather's rotten. i run fenders, i run knobbies, i run studded ice tires, i run 28mm slicks. it does it all.
Sure it's not the best at any one thing, but for me it's the very best bike for exactly everything. |
