Apparel?

Looking for opinions on best prices for cycling apparel. I prefer Pearl Izumi brand, but not against trying others.

Couldn't you do a Google search and find this information in about nine seconds?

Teensy 01-05-12 08:13 AM

Yes, I did. Thanks for the suggestion, though. I am looking for opinions from some who have buying experience as there are tons of sites that offer the clothing I'm looking for. I've never been in the market for this kind of clothing, so was seeking input from others.

PI is good but can be pricey for some people's budgets.
If you're on a budget, take a look at www.voler.com. Great stuff and great prices.
I guess you know about Nashbar and Performance so here's a few good online outlets I like.

... and the list goes on and on.

Voler, love2pedal, as stated above and I would add www.aerotechdesigns.com to the list. I have mad a handful of purchases from them and their house brand stuff is well made and reasonably priced.

I don't know much about PI because they're stuff tends to run a bit on the small side and I unfortunately am not a bit on the small side; plus I think they're over priced.

Thanks for much for your input. I'm going to check out these sites.

Hey Teensy, I've owned several brands of bike apparel, and I like PI. One way to live with the expense is this: I bought my PI shorts like three years ago, wear them a lot, and still have a couple of years to go before people are able to see my butt through the fabric.

One man's suggestions:

-spend lots on a good pair of bike shorts.
-if you wear cycling shoes, spend lots there, too (I have a pair of Sidis I bought with a gift card. Gift cards rule).
-go cheap with everything else (you can get a decent helmet for not a lot of money).
- do not wear cotton on the bike.

BTW, I thought your question was perfectly reasonable.

Also check out places like sierra trading post and REI's bargain/clearance area, especially if your like you're user name, as close outs are often S or XXL sizes
