Locking Your Kid's Trailer Up
 

How do you lock up your kid's trailer when you're out an about on the town and stop somewhere? We have no problem securing my bikes usually, but we are pondering the best way to lock up the trailer. Because it's a Bell trailer, it collapse down and comes apart very nicely for storage/transport, but also makes it pretty easy to walk away with the whole thing.

Thoughts?

I usually don't lock up my burley trailer, which also breaks down, when leaving it and my bike outside. So far it has been fine. *knock on wood*

Same here. We dont lock the trailer, not much of a market on CL or pawn shops. Been using bike trailers for over 10 years now withouta problem. Worst I've had happen was someone threw an empty soda bottle in our trailer while stopped at a store.

I don't lock mine either, but then, it's rare my lock-ups are in risky situations.

If I did want to, though, I'd imagine a separate cable would be an acceptable solution. The frame of the trailer is so low that you can't readily lock it with the bike's lock, and anyway, I'd be averse to uncoupling the trailer in the first place. I'd either cable it to a secure object, or lacking that, to the rear wheel.

The only other thing I can think of would be a very small diameter cable through the security strap D-ring (most trailers have one of those, right?) and around the chainstay, very much like the security strap, just secured with a small padlock.

I know people will take anything, but a kid's trailer? That's low! :rolleyes:

I always girth hitch a cable lock around some part of the frame of our chariot trailer and the other end goes into the ulock with whatever the bike is locked too.

I have a aosom cargo trailer,i put clamps so you cant take off the left wheel,take off the right and put them on u lock,works for me, its hard to drag a one wheel trailer.
