Child seat that works with any standard bike rack?

I have a Rivendell with a Riv bike rack and I'm wondering if this rack can be used instead of the ones that come with the rear-mount child seats?
They have their own quick release systems that attach to racks that they come with but I want to know if this QR system can be attached to my current rack. Has anyone tried this? I can't find any information out there about this and none of them seem to show pics of the QR systems.

I use that. carries kids or stuff and simply bolts onto the rack. Not removable, but I have other bikes for that.

I have this one: http://www.campmor.com/co-pilot-limo...gpa=pla&ci_kw=

And it works with a standard Blackburn Expedition rack, so you could compare the specs for that rack to the one you have to get and idea of whether it would work.

Awesome! So there is hope. :)

You wouldn't happen to have a pic of the mounting mechanism on the rack, would you? I'm just trying to get an idea of what these things are like.

How do you like that particular seat? Would you buy it again?

Thanks!

There are a few options that could work. One would be a seat that doesn't attach to a rack at all, but to the seat tube. Examples:

Bobike Maxi: http://www.bobikeusa.com/Bobike-Maxi-BB-MAXI.htm
Britax: http://www.amazon.com/Britax-USA-K05.../dp/B006FS3BFM

However, depending on your bike geometry, I can't guarantee that those would clear your rack.

Another option would be to get a seat with an "adapter" to attach to your current rack:
For instance, Yepp Maxi with an "Easy Fit Carrier Adapter", which attaches to your current rack:
http://www.amazon.com/Yepp-GMG-Easyf.../dp/B004PYEB6Q
http://www.amazon.com/Yepp-GMG-20211...ef=pd_sim_sg_1

or Bobike City (which comes with the "adapter" bracket):

Thanks, mel! Lots of great info. :)

Sorry - don't have photos, but looking at the photos of your bike/rack. I'm almost certain that the rack is too wide and the the loop at the front is too tall for the Co-pilot seat to fit. It's a fine seat and I would probably buy it (got ours for free), but to use it you'd probably have to bite the bullet and replace your nice Riv/Nitto rack with the more pedestrian (but nice enough) Blackburn.

The Yepp racks that the other person mentioned sure look nice.

FYI, i finally got a seat and i ended up going with the Britax linked a few posts up.

We own their car child seats and know they make a top notch product so I figured I'd give it a shot. It works PERFECTLY!
Plenty of clearance over the rack and the only attachment is to the seat tube. Also, you can get an extra bracket to install on another bike and the seat can transfer over in about 5 seconds.
The seat also has some flex to it so going over bumps is not so jarring to the kiddo.

Some other nice things...
1) Seat back reclines a bit
2) Ankle straps hold their feet in. And you only adjust once. After that they snap on and off for easy entry/exit.
3) Shoulder straps are secure and is an easy one-button on/off.
4) Build very rugged but not too heavy.
5) Was able to work with both my current rack (several inches of clearance) and my Brooks Champion Special which is basically a sprung B.17. The springs are kinda big.

Anyway, my daughter loved... i love it... and I have a pletscher double kickstand on the way to replace my single kickstand.
Thanks for all the suggestions! :)
