Riding to the park!
For a couple of years now my son has been riding in a kid trailer on bike rides with me. He's been riding his bike with training wheels around the house and yard and down our street sometimes for awhile, but that's about as far as he's ridden. Well yesterday we rode from our house to the park, on his bike, while I rode my bike at around 3-4 MPH lol 
He did great, and loved it all. He thought it was awesome to be "riding on the street" since there are no sidewalks along the road going through the park, so the actual asphalt paving was the only option. We stopped by the lake and the playground before heading home.

great job little man. and I'm surprised daddy didn't fall over at that pace. also nice to see a helmet on his noggin. education starts early.

Good job. 
Looks to me like its past time for a new bigger bike for him. That bike looks WAY too small for him. And maybe ditch the training wheels.

I don't know...Judging by the shadows, it looked like Dad was having a hard time keeping up! That is a great accomplishment for you both. Looks like you've found a riding partner. How old is the kiddo? Mine just turned 4 this month and he's starting to really like cruising around.

I can go 2 MPH in my lowest couple of gears on my KHS without too much trouble.
Yes the bike is small for him now. He can ride a 16" bike with the seat low without any problems. But I *just* got this bike for him this past Christmas, will probably need to wait until at least this Christmas to get another bike. It is definitely small for him, he's grown a lot this year. The seat post is set at the maximum height currently. Every now and then he will look at my road bike and say "I want the seat tall like your bike daddy"
Training wheels... yeah I took them off for a few weeks recently, and he tried riding a couple of times but then just wasn't interested in riding at all after that. I put the TW's back on just to at least get him back on the bike for now. I think we'll probably wait until he has a 16" bike before we try again without TW's.

And of COURSE, looking on CL there are ZERO 16" boys bikes with training wheels available in my area. This is why I ended up getting a new bike from Walmart for his first bike, couldn't find one on CL that met what I was looking for. Freakin' always happens...
