Hello all:

I'm looking for a city bike to run errands and for short rides, 30 mi./ 48 km tops and this one really caught my eye. I've only been able to have short test rides on it. So how the seat stands up, I couldn't say. There is traffic here.


There doesn't seem to be many posts here in the archives about them. I would really appreciate it if you would share any experiences you have had with this bike.

I'll tell you, it sure look snazzy, but if I get a sore rear end, with the bike's good looks and a dollar fifty, you can ride the subway, as my grandmother used to say. i.e. all that money will have been wasted.

So...Has anyone heard of Maxarya?
Do they make good bikes?
Is the company stable or another BikeE in the wings, just waiting to happen?

I've had the Maxarya Ray 1-X (suspended bike with 16" front wheel) for a year and one half. Among the 'bents and upright bicycles I have, the Maxarya is hands down the most beautiful of the bunch. As a matter of fact, that's the reason I bought it in the first place. At that time, they did not have a dealer in the southern part of the states, so I bought the bike from Urbane Cyclists from upstate New York.

I have found that the Maxarya is best for short excursions, 10 miles or less. You will ride in style and be happy with this bike. It has higher quality components, but found it to be heavier than advertised, closer to 35lbs. It has a more upright riding style than most recumbents (I also have an Optima Orca).

The bike that I'm hooked on now is a part of the new RANS Fusion series of bikes, Zenetik, the RANS roadbike. This 23lb. bike is fast, goes up hills like they're not there, and is super comfortable, due to the unique design. I have recently ordered the basic Fusion, which, according to the information I've received, is more compatible with commuting and touring. I ordered the bike because I wanted a bike with tires that were more compatible with rainy weather. This would allow me to ride every day. The Zenetik has such fast, skinny tires, they will go down on slick ,wet, surfaces much more easily.
