Amongst all the research here and every other recumbent forum I got on I ran into a gentleman that was selling his Greenspeed GTO and a ton of gear to boot. I think I have done well, even though red is not my favorite color, it is really my least favorite color, but I can deal with that.

Welcome to the un-fold. A trike isn't the only thing I ride, but its the ride I like the best. I dont foresee ever being without one.

Bullman 05-06-15 06:26 AM

It is awesome so far. If I had walked 4 miles last night I wouldn't be able to walk this morning. Feel pretty good for my short ride with the kids.

Hey Bullman,

Did your GTO come with this for the hills?

Greenspeed Recumbent Trikes - SRAM Dual Drive

Bullman 05-06-15 07:03 AM

It did. 81 speeds with the hub. Glad you don't have to work through all the gears to get to the top,

VACaver 05-06-15 07:33 AM

Let me know when you're ready to hit the New River trail with it!

Bullman 05-06-15 09:23 AM

Will do. I have several people that I know that want to make that ride including the gentleman that sold me this GTO. I took it up thrill hill today here in town, and even as out of shape as I am I can climb it. I had to stop and sit in the recliner for a while a few times on the way up, but I made it, and it didn't take all day, and I think I may have even done it faster than I could have walked it.

Congratulations. 'Bents are a lot of fun, and Greenspeed makes a great trike.

I noted he hasn't let the beard come in yet. Required equipment to ride a trike, even for women. This was established in another thread. Hope you are wobbling a lot on it too.

Juan Foote 05-07-15 04:39 PM

Also, OP, Kudos on perfect grammatical use of "done did".

BlazingPedals 05-07-15 06:57 PM

I'd 'a said "done doodit," but I'm not sure if that's the right spelling.

Can't let the beard come in, at least not more than 4 days worth. One of those work related things where all I can have is a cheesy mustache.

Four days worth should have come in on the first few miles. Unless you shaved upon arriving back at home you are doing it wrong. ;)

As a side note. You may have noted in the other thread that getting your bent legs takes a minute, so order ahead of time.

Got my chain tools today, so my next trick is to shorten this critter up a bit to fit me. Right now at the farthest the crank is out from my seated position my leg is at max extension so I need to fix that. When I shorten the chain should the chain be on any particular set of sprockets or does that matter?

Set up on your biggest/biggest so that you can be sure you have the right tension on your der.

BlazingPedals 05-08-15 01:46 PM

Put the chain on big/big and running through the jockey pulleys, pull the chain tight, add one link for safety. If the boom may be moved again, leave a few more links reserved for future use. Better too long than too short.

Punkncat and BlazingPedals are both right. You really don't want a chain that's too short.

Red bikes/trikes are faster than other colors.

Nice trike Bullman, you know that red makes your trike faster.
