Rans Rocket & Honda Civic needs bike rack

I need bike rack recommendations please.

I currently have a bike rack that straddles the top of the trunk lid and the bumper. The rack 'arms' are at the level of the trunk. It works find for my standard mountain bike, but not for my Rocket.

Between lifting my Rocket up to the level, 'threading' the rack arms through the Rocket frame and chain, and strapping it down with numerous bungie cords so it doesn't get left on the highway, I decided I need a better way. Did I mention I'm 5'3"?

I would like a rack where the Rocket stands up on it and can somehow lower to accept the bike or to remove the bike. If I could avoid getting a trailer hitch for such a rack, that would be great. I'm trying to keep costs down.

Thank you in advance.
Paula

Do you have an older Rocket with two small wheels or a newer one? Not sure how that would affect your issue. Pretty sure there is a hitch mounted racks that would meet your needs. NOt sure about trunk/bumper mounted options. I carry my bikes on a roof rack but that would be a challenge if I were much shorter than 6' 1". Carried my V-Rex on a trunk mounted rack a few times but it was never easy to get it secured on the Graber rack.

The best solution would probably be a wheel-tray type carrier, but you can only get them in a hitch mount; and they're all going to be more expensive than a simple two-armed trunk mount.

I've got 2 small wheels on my Rocket.
A trailer hitch + rack seems to be the logical route. I just need to rationalize the expense.
Thanks!

With a trailer hitch + rack you'd ride your bike more frequently. That's a good thing.
