recumbent racing

I recently did a 'road' endurance event held on a motor racing circuit. All manner of bikes were campaigned including recumbents. Some entrants participated as teams of up to six riders and some went solo. The best overall 12hr result was turned in by a team of four riders who completed 114 laps of the 4km circuit. Next best overall was a recumbent, ridden solo which clocked up a staggering 112 laps, almost 450km in 12hrs.
Our conventional bike racing club entered 11 teams one of which was the winner but the question now being asked within the club is "should we invite recumbents to our race meetings?"
My mind has been working overtime on this and the thought struck me that I'd love to see a recumbent on the velodrome. I bet they'd be quick around there. Does anyone have experience riding recumbents on the track?

hmm.....you must be talking about Glen on the recumbent (velokraft nocom)

I've been on a velodrome a few times for racing. Its a blast for sure. The fastest lap times are done by the streamliners pulling 40mph + laps.

I'm sure Glen would be happy if you opened up the racing format and let him in. Everybody else would keep getting faster. Competition is what will make everyone work harder.

Hey Chris, Just a quick question... The Chalenge Jester is rated for a 240 pound rider, I'm 262 pounds (For now) and I have the oppourtunity to become the proud owner of one of these beautiful beasts. Would I squash the poor little speed demon, or do you think it could hang? HTTP://WWW.TOURDEPANTS.COM
