Recumbent What IS that thing?! Recumbents may be odd looking, but they have many advantages over a "wedgie" bicycle. Discuss the in's and out's recumbent lifestyle in the recumbent forum.

Recumbent Riders in Las Vegas, NV ?

Are there any recumbent riders in Las Vegas? I'm sure interested in getting a recumbent bike, but the bike
shops I've visited have nothing to test ride. They will order from a catalogue, but I need to talk to someone who rides and talk to about recumbents.
So, if anyone in the LV area reads this, send me an email and perhaps we can get together if you so desire.

I'm open to opinions and recommendations from anyone with some knowledge and opinion.

I've been riding only a little while; but, I've had my Centurion for 30 years stored in the workshop. Got it out a few months ago to help motivate the grandkids to start riding. Getting on a bike felt like being 16 and getting behind the wheel of a car. I've been doing between 12-15 miles daily, but I have disc deterioration in the neck and spinal stenosis to boot. Anyway, I'm 65 and want to get a recumbent.

In Henderson, I see a bunch of recumbent riders gather at Cinnamon Ridge Park (825 Burkholder Blvd) in the early morning, do their rides, then they're there again after their rides. They start before sunrise sometimes.

Southwest Bikes over by the Centennial Hills area on Azure has Catrike in stock. One of the better bike shops around the area and they also made the top ten LBS in Nevada. Las Vegas Cyclery over at Summerlin also carries Catrike.

Zombie Thread Alert
I don't know how you came across this posting but if you check the posting date it was a decade ago. I contacted eyelica back then and after he tried my Haluzak Horizon SWB he bought a used Haluzak Hybrid Race. It didn't work out well for him and the last time we corresponded, which was in 2007, he was going to sell the bike and go back to riding regular bikes. This was his one and only post.

The Catrike website lists only one LV bike store as an authorized dealer and gives it their "bronze" rating. It pretty much means the store will not have a selection of trikes to try out unless they permit you to ride one that is ordered for a customer and awaiting pick-up. There was a satellite store in St. George UT for Utah Trikes, Catrikes largest US dealer, but it closed down fairly quickly. It's hard to make an informed decision on such an expensive purchase unless you can actually try the model you want to buy.
Bronze Dealer
Bronze dealers are good quality, established bicycle stores that are able to order in Catrikes on a demand basis.
