how much are the lowracer bikes?
 

Hi. I'm thinking about getting one lowracer bike. but i don't really see any manufacturers or dealers. and i don't know how much they are. can someone give me price range of lowracers? and which bike is easy to get and good generally. thanks.

Have you Googled "recumbent bicycle" yet? I found several trike dealers, with prices starting at about US$1400.

They are expensive unfortunately.

I'm pretty sure he's looking for US dealers. I wouldn't buy over here under any circumstances. Cheaper to fly to the states and bring it back with me, which we've done once already.

You can get a lowracer at a decent price if you're patient. Be prepared to spend 2000-2500. New you'd be looking at between 3-4k, I would say. My Baron was 2400 new I believe, and is just absolutely the best bike once you get it dialed in and used to it.

There are a lot of good lowracers out there, just depends on the money you're willing to spend. I'm not the most knowledgeable guy out there, but the most talked about ones seem to be the Optima Baron, the Challenge Jester, and the Velokraft VK2. I own a Baron and am extremely pleased with it.

About every 3 months you'll see a lowracer for sale at BROL in the classifieds section.

I would love a VK2 but price wise it isn't going to happen. :(

Personally, I'd be happy with a frame and the steering components in a kit form. Then I could do up my own drivetain and wheels/brakes. Are you guys referring to trikes, or 2 wheelers?

Lowracers are all 2 wheelers...

Optima and Challenge are imported to the U.S. and have distributors that will work with a LBS or IBS (Internet bike shop.) There is also M5, which does not have a US distributor, AFAIK :( . Barcroft Cycles is the only US lowracer-maker that I know of.

Lowracers aren't cheap, and even used ones seem to command relatively high prices.
