sun seeker recumbent Ez classic question
Hi there
can a sun seeker ez recumbent trike be transported on a good trunk style carrier? I have a two bike Saris carrier I am looking to buy a used one but need to get it back home to do some minor repairs thanks Larry |
I don't know which model you're referring to, but trikes in general don't normally go on a 2-arm trunk carrier very well. I'd expect better results using a 3-tray bumper rack. Also Sunseeker in general are pretty heavy; you won't want to lift one very far.

Got it home in a big SUV ....this was too back heavy and unbalanced to be transported on my trunk rack.
thanks all for your help. |

please be specific. You didn't mention the model.

It doesn't matter which model it is because all are very heavy. Specifications taken from the Bicycleman Alfred NY website.
EZ-3 and EZ-3 tri-classic 67 pounds EZ3-AX (aluminum frame) 52 pounds EZ-3 USX 65 pounds It is somewhat of a challenge to ride anything this heavy up a decent hill much less lift it to put it in place on a rack or a roof. I tried bringing a friend's 50's vintage Schwinn one-speed tank bike home on a rack and decided it was too heavy to carry that way safely plus darned hard to lift to get it on a rack. That's not to disparage the Sun trike. It's cheap, sturdy, readily available, has moderately decent components, and can serve well as a first trike for someone willing to put up with pedaling that much weight. It has a far better gear range than a lot of entry level trikes. |
Don't know if you are talking trike or two wheeled EZ. I have transported two-wheeled EZ series bikes on a traditional bike rack with no problem. I found the EZ-Sport was best mounted on the rack upside down.
