Rode today, who else did?
Well, I figured I'd start the new year right with a ride. It was a might chilly. 36 F with a 15 mph breeze. That's pretty much at my lower limit.
Anyone else ride? |
The morning started out with the sun shining, 51 degrees. I was preparing to ride when I was called away. By the time I could get back to bicycling, the sky was overcast and a stiff wind was coming from the south. I headed into the wind with the optimistic anticipation of a tailwind on the return. Far to the south, I could see clear sky. I never caught up with it, but it was good to be riding. On the return trip, the wind shifted to come from the north west, bringing with it a light rain, the temperature dropping to the mid-40's. Still a good ride.

Got in about 7-8 miles in 36F overcast dry weather today. Not bad at all and much better than a normal January day.

32 miles in 40 to 45 deg sunny weather with 12 mph North wind. Very nice ride with the warm clothes I got for Christmas.

I rode
I rode 34 miles today with a wind coming from the north 15 to 20 MPH. It was a slow ride When I left it was 38 with wind it felt alot colder. This is my last ride without my fairing it is sitting at UPS for del. tomorrow I can't wait. It was a good work out but legs are cramping up tonite, I think 34 miles might have been a little much today but I had fun on the way back home it was south all the way. Hard to believe it is winter here in Wisconsin. :D

Did a traditional new yrs day ride with the local club. Same ride has been done for at least 20yrs. Saw people I never see otherwise, and 4 tandem teams showed up plus a recent bent convert on a Rans Rocket which he was tickled pink over. Nice 30miler with a raspberry donut for fuel at the turn around
point. Temp was 42F and sunny, but it got very cloudy at the start and temp never went over 45F. Met a relatively recent transplant for northern Indiana who was getting used to our hillier terrain and pushing her mileage up into the 50mi range lately. She didn't miss the snow, wind and subfreezing northern Indiana winters. |
Well I rode about 30 feet today, from my shop to the garage through the snow where I hoisted the bike up to the rafters "for the duration!"
Up to now we've not had snow but it came the few days before New Years with a vengeance! We have over a foot on the level and I spent a couple hours on the 4WD tractor/snow plow to clear it off the driveway and the neighbors driveways! So now it's downstairs on the trainer time, probably till about mid March! only +2 degrees this morning! I hate the trainer!!!!!! Boring!!!!! |
It was raining, windy and cold yesterday. I decided stay in. I rode in to work this morning as usual, though! Nice and dry, too.

Pretty darn nice here...
low 30's with 12 - 15 mph North wind. Dry roads so I did a little 12 mile ride. Hope to get out later today since it's even nicer.

you waited for daylight? Eight of us in my club assembled at midnight. We pushed off at 12:01am, and did 16 miles. The weather was mild for Michigan, probably 40F, and breezy. The route we took led downtown, then out of town to the north and loop back in from the northeast. As we rode, the wind pushed the clouds out of the sky and the stars and full moon came out. Very nice night for a ride.
We got a lot of friendly honks, yells, and waves along the route. |
I rode the last day of '06. First "cold" ride ever. Ended up with a serious muscle cramp in the right calf and been limping for two days now. Oh-well... no pain - no gain.
|
Just finished a four day unsuported tour so I am not doing any riding today. ;) I did 386km in the four days and got partially sunburnt. Cycling in summer is very nice but I am getting sick of the feel of sunscreen though.

I did the club ride on new Year's Day. Today........ a local guy that sells Rans came over and I test rode a Stratus and Tailwind. It was a short ride on each around the neighborhood. The Tailwind was fun, and MUCH easier to ride than my Phantom was, but the guy will be sending me a quote tonight on a Stratus LE. ;)

New Year's was a family day for me, but I did manage to ride every day since (7x) for a couple of hundred miles total. :)
